Mardy
From that nme article: " This means that as things currently stand, the band's first live appearance since reuniting will either be at NorthSide festival or Hultsfred festival. " Bloody hell , the Stone Roses and Northside in the same sentence, it really is 1990 all over again. I'm waiting for the Soup Dragons to pop up and claim there's always been a dubstep element to their music.
Ed209
They've apparently just signed a record deal so we can definitely expect new material.
The Nal
Apparently last nights free gig was world class.
Mardy
That looks like a great atmosphere there last night, but Brown still can't sing eh? relying on the goodwill of the audience to carry him through. Fair play though, bet those people there had a great time.

The Nal
Last night in Amsterdam, Reni refused to come back for an encore, apparently not happy with his drum sound due to a lazy sound check. Brownie came on stage, said hes gone home and called him a c**t. Crowd of amateurs.
The Nal
what's with the stretching his arms out? and the audience really needed to know why they weren't going to play another song, didn't they... twonks..!
eFestivals
Problem is, the encore they played the two nights previous was I Am the Resurrection. So the Dutch fans got screwed because the didn't get to hear it. They were expecting it. Poor form. looks like a publicity stunt to me. What better way to have everyone talking about them playing together again?
russycarps
I didnt think ian brown ever did encores anyway? I remember him getting booed at the end when he headlined the other stage at glastonbury for not doing one

rexclark
Nothing story IMO. They have far too much to lose if they don't do all the gigs. However, I do also think that they probably all hate eachother, but money talks.
The Nal
Anyone live in or near Manchester? Flying out tomorrow for the gig on Sunday. Raining there still?
eFestivals
someone has just posted somewhere on here that they or their mate has been for a walk around Heaton Park this morning and that the ground is "good to firm" and that trainers are adequate footwear for how things stand at this moment. Of course, any rain that comes along between now and when you're there will change that.
The Nal
Cheers. Suppose the 60 odd thousand people walking on it will change it too. May bring some safety wellies.
eFestivals
oh, one more thing .... From posts on these forums over recent days, the rain that people are getting can be very localised - there was someone saying it was raining in Manc while someone else was saying it wasn't. It turned out they were on different sides of Manc and getting very different weather. So if anyone is reporting rain in Manc it doesn't necessarily mean that Heaton Park is getting rained on. Given the weather recently I reckon 'safety wellies' are a very good idea. I reckon the chances of no rain between now and Sunday when you go are pretty slim. Ed209
Info Info Info ...... .... sources tell us..... 1. the driver for the reform is not (just?) money, they'll be a new album too. 2. they'll be playing V Festival in August. 3. they'll be playing the revived Phoenix Festival sometime in August too. I'm presuming these things will be confirmed at the press conf this arvo.
jump
Just been reading back through the thread. Whatever happened to the Pheonix plans?
eFestivals
Whatever happened to the Pheonix plans? with regard to the Roses, it seems pretty clear now that there was some confusion along the way - the info came to me as "Phoenix Festival", but very probably started off as being "Phoenix Park, Dublin" (as they're playing there). It's a pretty easy thing to happen, I guess, as sometimes what I hear goes thru a number of people before it gets to me. With regard to Phoenix Festival, that failed to get off the ground when it couldn't secure any suitable headline acts. Whether Vince will have another go or not next year I don't know, but my guess right now would be no. Ed209
Apparently they've closed all the bars at Heaton Park because there was a 45 minute people queue and people were on the verge of rioting. Twitter says its all kicking off there. Sounds about right.
