Presumably V's current marketing ploy of trying to get every scally from Manchester and Liverpool to attend?

 - that's not what I was thinking, but maybe you have a point.

Our sources are telling us that they'll be a full tour of the original band next June, to be announced tomorrow.... and for info like this we've not been wrong yet. :D

As someone who went to see them at Spike Island as a 16 year old and loves the band I really hope that its just the usual annual bullsh1t press report that hits the press before being denied.

In 1990 Brown's voice was not great but certainly much much better than it is these days, 20+ years of heavy smoking has taken its toll and as has been said above, the legacy of the band would definitely be tarnsihed if they make a come back, Back in the late 80s and early 90s the band could get away with Brown not having the voice of an angel because of the moment and the fact that the rest of the band were amazing. The moment has well and truly passed and if they played gigs at Heaton Park it would be full of knob heads throwing pints of piss, throwing up and fighting.

Brown and Mani has always said that they would be selling out if they reformed and would be selling their soul to the devil because it would only be for the money so I really hope they stick to this, I could accept if they did a couple of gigs just for charity.

It depends how they do it I reckon. If they do what they were good at - recording music - it might be okay. But if they do what they're bad at - playing live - it'll be sh1te.

From the footage I've seen from way before the Reading fiasco, Brown's voice was alway awful. And I saw him live at a fest three months back and that certainly hasn't changed...

Brown is good when he can be bothered, and from reports already theyve been rehearsing since August, how true that is I dont know. He wont want to go play if the band sound class and he just brings the full thing down. I saw the first night of the first solo tour that he started playing Roses' songs, and after a couple of his own he played about 6 Roses songs in the next 7 or 8 songs and he sounded great, I then saw him 4 years ago in my hometown and he sounded fucking dreadful.

Jesus thats shocking.

In fairness, Squire had left at that stage and the rest didn't give a fuck.

This is more like it.

Some interesting quotes about the reunion

Shaun Ryder - "I think it'll happen, I really do. There is more of a chance now than ever of them getting back together. Ian's just split with his missus and I bet she's hit him for a few quid".

John Squire - "when it's just a get-together for a big payday and everyone gets their old clothes out, that seems tragic to me".

The mixed reception its already got (even though it hasn't even been announced yet!) proves why The Smiths should never do it and why the legacy of the Beatles and Zeppelin is intact for never doing it.

3.17 into that song is the nadir, genuinely shocking attempt at singing.

The reunion is a done deal, press conference tomorrow. 2 gigs and a festival (V, i think)

I'd not go and see them now. First album is great, second has its moments but overall, I'm minded of Keats

'A thing of beauty is a joy forever

But Ian brown is a hasbeen twat'

No more gravefucking of my memories, please.

I wonder if they've mis judged this? The amount of negative comments I've read on many different and varied forums has far out weighed the number of postive comments.

There's only one judgement that's going to matter to the Roses, and that's whether the tickets sell or not.

And of that I don't think there can be any doubt. Even the people making those negative comments will be snapping them up.
