The boss of Reading and Leeds says he has "terrific" headliners lined up for next year's festivals.

Festival Republic's managing director Melvin Benn has described the bookings that he's already made as "very exciting".

"I couldn't be happier overall with where we're going with all the festivals," he said.

Last year Reading and Leeds was headlined by Muse, My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp.

Melvin Benn's company also looks after the Latitude and Big Chill festivals.

"I've just had a brilliant conversation about an act I was desperate to play Latitude and now I'm pretty sure will play Latitude," he said.

If you look at just the quotes he doesn't specificly mention or name R&L yet the headline reads "Reading and Leeds festival have 'terrific' headliners". Why can't they just print the entire conversation?

Isn't the quote from the interview the BBC did with Melvin for their festival feature last month about the future of festivals - same words. A re-hashed article? Or Melvin saying the same thing twice.

pulp are twice the band blur in my opinion.

If this relates to R+L then I can see a slight change in music policy for the headliners or on one day of the festival. More commercial bands/acts to flog more tickets.

But hasn't Eminem headlined R+L? We've also had 50 Cent and Xzibit, and i'm pretty sure Jay Z has been booked before and had to pull out, so it's really not beyond the realms of possibility, is it?

The fact that Dizzee Rascal gets booked frequently, along with other various hip-hop acts lower down the bill should show that the reasonable chances of one of them being booked as a headliner

50 Cent is proper shit though & it was back when Reading was more rowdy. Jay-Z would be a credible headliner with someone like Chase & Status/Enter Shikari/big indie band in NME tent at the same time.
