cejx- The walk is not too bad at all at Download, ok it's a treck but nothing at all like the walking you can do at Glasto.

Imo the walk sucks ass. you cant just pop back to the tent for a beer or two between bands coz you have to trek 18 miles. for me thats the only bad point about download (and the Tubourg).

its 20 mins on a good run, if there's a good crowd leaving as basically they don't wanna to see much then its crap. i will sa it's a huge arena and sells less that other fests so more space. but i don't think that the way the 2nd stage is arranged to the main stage is that effective, could do with more room i reckon between the 2nd stage and the food bits and disabled viewing is it?

how exactly did it used to be done before? i know the main stage used to be inside the donnington race track making it a 5 min walk from the camping.

The walk isn't that bad, take a can or two to drink on the way and its fine, I do the walk into the actual Donington village on the Thursday and the pub crawl and even that is cool, then taxi back at night. MAN I can't wait to get back there! Someone said its like around 200 days left

I think it was an off the cuff remark from Andy, when someone brought up the whole boring booking argument from the year before with sonisphere.

However apparently they (Metallica) do have a surprise in store if you are to believe AC and JP, I can't see them playing three nights in a row on the main stage after all other acts, however secret sets across all stages will be one to look out for just in case. Unless they announce the surprise before the fest.

Yeah Ive posted this elsewhere, John [Live Nation COO] said on twitter that Metallica have something VERY special for Download planned, and someone asked him will we find out before the festival and Andy butted in and said its not completely confirmed yet, holds your horses, and then John deleted his tweet.

I think its Newsted. the stage set has been confirmed in a few places, its the one from the black album tour. but yeah - I think Jason Newkid is gonna play bass on all of the black album tracks.
