Thats where you are very much wrong, whilst you people were being kept in the queue there was a message roughly said 'Do NOT refresh this webpage or try to access it through another window/tab as your request will be invalid and you will be sent to the back of the queue'

So I had one window open and I guess, so did most other people. And thats not even getting into how many people were trying on other sites, over the phone etc.

the glasto ticket sales and others have shown how it works - everyone tries every option a multiple of times and creates an impression of far more demand than there really is.

You're being mighty foolish believing that each attempt is a diffderent person, but you're far from the first to be suckered by numbers like that.

The Cure will be too expensive to headline the NME Tent imo.

Since last summer they've been on my prediction, mostly just wishful thinking (i put down Pixies to sub them!) but for it to be true would sell the festival to me and i shall make a return.

Now Foo's/QOTSA for another day and Blur/Beastie Boys and we got ourselves a festival!

I'm not saying that i think The Cure would take anything less than a main stage headlining slot (in fact i very much doubt they would, although i wouldn't be too fussed about them if they were to play) but one thing does puzzle me. People have mentioned that they played the Royal Albert Hall last year when they could have played a bigger venue, or more dates, thus selling more tickets and playing to more people, yet most people are of the opinion that they wouldn't take an NME headlining slot, where they could play to a smaller, more dedicated crowd. Just seems a little odd to me, is it purely just a status thing?

Ah fair enough, i guess that makes sense. But do we not think that they could possibly be offered an extended NME slot as a compromise to get them to take it? It would be seen as more of a coup by the festival if they were able to book them in that slot rather than a headlining slot i think. But i'm not sure how feasible that would be, or if in fact the band would ever go for it

Doubt they'll play Reading at all, I can only imagine anyone under 25 complaining about them being announced. "WHO R DA CURE? FORT DEY WER DIED", "DER DAT BAND THAT RIPED OFF TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB", etc.

Obviously not everyone will react that way.

I'm 19 at university and a lot of the people I know from home and uni know who the cure are. I also know a few people who went to see them at Bestival and Bestival is a festival that is popular with a lot of under 25's. People on this forum are seriously underestimating how many people my age actually know who the cure are and listen/have listened to them! Plus the influence they have had on the rock/indie music industry on the more 'popular' acts of today. Admittedly there will probably be some people questioning if they should headline (under 25 or over) but RnL seem to like that for some reason.

People really seem to have no faith in young people listening to decent music. Im 19 and bloody love the cure and do a lot of people i know. Others have posted on here saying the same so I know I'm not the only one. The festival has a history of booking critically acclaimed acts in big slots even if they might not be the biggest (alongside the big name acts). By booking credible headliners they don't alienate the people who are there for the good music, and they're the ones who are likely to attend more music festivals.

Robert Smith says "4 OR MAYBE 5 MORE TO CONFIRM..."

Assuming this map was kind of correct

thecure_2012_moeglichkeit.jpg

although Reading isn't on the route - then there's a date in Ireland, and a date in Hungary, and another date in France/Switzerland (lot of money on that being Nyon), and a date in Moscow.

That's four dates, with a UK one still to go - would Reading and Leeds be counted as one?
