kaosmark2
Thing about the Foos, great drummer, really world class, and a handful of good tunes but apart from that they do nothing for me. Watched them at IOW (on TV) and apart from the riffy bit at the end of All My Life it all just sounds like bland stadium chug rock to me. And I prefer Taylors voice to Daves. kaosmark2
Discovered The Sword while supporting Kyuss in Texas. Its fairly old school but dudes rocked hard. Ear bleeding stuff. New album "warp riders" is really good if you like your music with lot of riffs and lots of hair.

windy_miller
that PJ harvey one really grates on you after a few listens I found. Nowhere near her best. Though i'm not a fan of "look at me! look at me! I hate war and stuff!!" albums Edited December 9, 2011 by windy_miller
ralph250
Maybe not the best thing, but Bill Callahan's most recent is worth a mention. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wZczFrlBXM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=252eksMUdXs
5co77ie
Albums of the year for me: Ry Cooder - Pull Up some Dust and Sit Down Tom Waits - Bad As Me Jonathan Wilson - Gentle Spirit Wilco - The Whole Love I did like PJ Harveys latest and The Black Keys too. but I've only really heard them once so far. Also, I gave Bon Iver's album a listen, but its like drowsy formula NyQuil for ears. Live song of the year: Art of Almost by Wilco. In Berlin. The Nal
Heard this for the first time last night whilst watching the football - absolutely blown away by it. Edited December 13, 2011 by The Nal
5co77ie
Myself and Wooderson saw him in Berlin a few weeks back. Very good. Good guitar player. Did they use him for the football highlights Scottie?
Wooderson
Heard people groaning about his guitar solo to Natural Rhapsody in the Roundhouse in London - but in Berlin (where it was at least 8 minutes long) they lapped it up. Interesting the little differences. Nice record though Scott. Lovely on vinyl.

airds
This years LPs The truly excellent: Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 - From Africa With Fury: Rise Lou Reed & Metallica - Lulu The really good Middleman - Spinning Plates Scroobius Pip - Distraction Pieces Karl Phillips & the Midnight Ramblers - Karl Phillips & the Midnight Ramblers Skint & Demoralised - This Sporting Life Favourite gigs of the year Pulp - Glasto Abdoujaparov - Bearded Theory The Amber Herd - Bearded Theory Scroobius Pip - Cockpit, Leeds Sound of Rum - Cockpit,Leeds Middleman - Cockpit, Leeds Chase & Status - O2, Leeds Streets - O2, Leeds Crystal Fighters - Mine, Leeds Chase & Status must have been good since I was in a really foul mood before they came on. The place was full of dick heads, the beer was shit, the upstairs bars were packed, and the downstairs bars were empty but would only serve you 1 pint at once (in case you gave it to someone under 18), and the support (Red Light) were really really poo, but as soon as C&S came on I forgot all that and loved it
windy_miller
I forgot to mention the J Mascis album in my list. Absoultely gorgeous.

Alcatraz
This years Glastonbury was probably the best festival I've had musically, mostly due to Pulp and Kool and the Gang (plus many, many more) Album wise, I've found myself going back to Metronomy the most over the last couple of months, there are a few songs on that album that can only be described as addictive. Other than that, my memory is shot, although I wasn't dissapointed by White Denim's new album (D as opposed the the re-released one) For 2012, give me a new Deerhunter album (and tour) and a White Denim tour and I should be a happy boy Edited December 23, 2011 by Alcatraz
