Leona Lewis to cover hurt!

It makes me cry just thinking about it. I wonder how Leona is going to portray the emotions of a smack addiction taking grip on a person, or the feelings experienced in knowledge that you're time is near its end.

I actually prefer the NIN original, although Johnny Cash did an incredible cover and basically made it his own. Even Trent admits that Hurt isn't his song anymore, its Cash's.

A perfect fit really. That band has become a parody. Their live show is now reliant entirely on gimmicks shamelessly stolen from other bands of course, hello flaming lips etc, to detract from the fact that in the space of 5 albums their music has gone from "ok" to "utterly unlistenable".

While I don't much disagree with that, after they said they had Coldplay for the final my missus and me started to discuss why they'd be doing it.

And the fact is that there's now very few high-viewer shows - perhaps only X-Fuckter - where music acts can get to show themselves to a large audience. The only other one I can think of is Jonathan Ross, tho that's far far smaller.

So while Coldplay are associating themselves with the worst musical gash going, there's not really any other options if they want to show what they're doing on mainstream TV. It wasn't like that in the past.

Fair point but do coldplay really need the exposure? They are "the biggest band in the world" afterall.

But yeh, I suppose they always want to sell more records and fill out more stadiums. Commercially, I suppose you cant really blame them for going on a show that has 15million cretins watching. If xfactor ever put acts on that were anything other than the biggest selling acts at anyone time it could probably gain a shred of credibility. If they showcased some up and coming acts it could actually be a positive show (even shite like the vaccines would be an improvement).

Will never happen of course as the drooling masses just want the rhiannas/kate perry/lady gaga lowest denominator stuff.

Still puzzled about why macca did it. Probably wanted to be "down with the kids" which in doing so just reinforced his position as uncoolest man on the planet (and yes, that includes Peter Dow)

yeh, but XFACTOR!?

yeah, but as i said, what other options are there?

do you think the likes of Muse and U2 would go on? Surely they've been asked as they are also "megabands".

I'd personally doubt that Muse would be asked or accepted but perhaps I'm wrong.

But U2 would sell their grannies to earn a few extra quid. Don't forget that they only finally agreed to play Glasto because they had (and probably still do) a credibility problem.
