brettredmayne
Why is Leeds and Reading always the last to announce, we know 1 act for T , 2 for isle of wight. I bet V is not too far to announcing someone.
5co77ie
Because they don't just announce a few acts when they do announce.
eFestivals
And anyway, what does it matter? Even if they announced the bands ten years in advance, you only get to see them on the dater they're booked to play on.
rexclark
They feel they have the reputation that they don't have to start announcing acts early. Normally it works.
Bisque
If you think R+L is bad, try waiting for Guilfest announcements.
mrtourette
At a time when festivals are struggling to sell tickets it certainly does seem and odd and possibly arrogant move. I guess they'd rather build up interest through secrecy and hope for an explosion of ticket sales rather than coming out early and selling them gradually. luckysalt
Didn't they say they're going to announce in Febuary next year? Im guessing they'll want to get the jump on V if thats the case, Download and Soni takes a long time to sell so im guessing people who only are going to do one fest and are considering those as well as Reading wait for Readings announcement which is later, but V sells out straight away and have clearly stolen Readings audience of late. Think a lot of regular V goers have moved on whilst a lot of Readings potential customers IE youngsters/first time festival goers have chosen V over Reading, so Reading will want to get them back, target this audience before V can. pablopablo
On twitter they were saying the were going to make the announcement 'feb/march' however they seem to have forgotten the feb bit now: 'We'll start making announcements next March.' http://twitter.com/#!/OfficialRandL Agree with the bit about V though, all my friends (16/17) choose between V and R/L and I'd say R/L defo lose out by announcing later. JC-Mo'Fucka
Youve got to remember its one of the last festies of the summer. Would glasto not have one of the shortest gaps between the main line up announcement and the festival starting?
brettredmayne
Glasto have started announcing headliners a lot earlier these days, used to be the line up was only announced as late as May or even when you arrived. Last year U2 was 23rd Feb, coldplay was a week earlier and full line up was announced in April. That is still about the same time frame as Leeds with Glastonbury the last weekend in June.. Just thought after last year Reading/Leeds would want to try and steal a march on all the other festivals Edited December 6, 2011 by brettredmayne

thetime
I wish all festivals gave put the lineup at the same time. We have taken a bit of a gamble in buying roskilde tickets with only bjork and Bon ivor being confirmed, although Springsteen announced on his website.
