Happy 50th Birthday Bill Hicks

He may have been just a comedian to some, and this is going to sound so clichéd but to me this guy was/is one of the few people on the planet I would class as a hero. Not a day goes by where I read something and I don't refer to a routine he did or something he said that fits so perfectly, his routines stand the test of time in a way so few manage. His career was way too short but he seemed to cover all the bases before he left us, and I never tire of watching or listening to them.

I wonder what he would say about the world today? A lot, I would guess.

I know I'd rather celebrate this guys Birthday, a real man with real talent as opposed to celebrating a fictional character who had the rather embarrassing fictional talent for conjuring bland sandwiches; he's also done more for me than Jesus ever did. The world would be in a much better state if everyone else did too.

was a sad loss. All time favourite of mine. Would love to see what he would of done today (of course might not have been what I think as is often the way when we Romanticise about these things)

The Bill Hicks movie is good, but the best ever document of his life is "Its just a ride" by Channel 4. Its available on DVD for those unfamiliar (where have you been?)

Bill shaped me more than I would dare to admit. I was stupid enough to turn down a ticket to see him. He died a few months later. I hadnt quite discovered him at the time I had the ticket offered. Silly, silly boy.
