Guest
This is one of the more shameful epsiodes in the police's history. The women deserve every penny they can get http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/dec/16/lovers-undercover-officers-sue-police
Yoghurt on a Stick
I agree. A completely shoddy and morally bankrupt thing to have done. It would be nice to see true justice prevail here.
t8yman
agreed, there is no justification for screwing up these women emotionally. possibly permanently.
Rufus Gwertigan
I may sound cynical but I hope that the women involved know what they may be walking into. The Met have a couple of choices here mainly to settle out of court or to defend it to the hilt. I can imagine that any decent barrister is going to try to muddy the waters with attacks on the womens virtue and character. I have recently been reading about similar actions in rape trials and it has been horrendous some of the things brought up. If this goes to court I can envisage it being an extremley complex and difficult case. Lets face it, it would not be the first time that a man (or woman) has been dishonest in a relationship and hidden things about themselves. The coppers involved could easily say they were emotionally attached and they have suffered because of that. Can't imagine this being an easy ride for anyone. Yoghurt on a Stick
They actively broke police protocol while serving under cover. I don't see that they have a leg to stand on no matter how much the waters are muddied. Even money will not compensate for their tawdry behaviour
lifelessfool
This whole affair is like a very very very bad shield episode.

Paul ™
I watched a programme recently on Mark Kennedy, this story gives an outline of it.

Rufus Gwertigan
I can still see the class action against the Met becoming a very merry affair. The police could just settle out of court or they will drag the women through it.
