There are no facts which supports the idea of two parents being better than one, not one single thing. But hey, in the absence of facts why not make it up?

There are facts which show that children brought up by two parents are more likely to be 'better balanced' than if they have one parent, but there's nothing which can definitively tie that to the number of parents. There's a huge range of factors that can be responsible, and there's evidence to support those other factors but nothing that relates to JUST the number of parents (otherwise a two parent kid would always outscore a one parent kid - and they don't).

The *ONLY* conclusion that can safely be drawn from those stats is that people who are married are more likely to stay together than people who are not married. There is NOTHING more that can be taken from those stats.

Who says marriage and monogamy makes for a more stable environment for bringing up children? The nuclear family isn't the only option. Just because it's the option favoured by the West doesn't make it the morally correct one.

My opinion is driven by morals as well. People should consider whether they're happy to devote time, energy and money towards a child before having one. We agree on that. I just don't think getting married is inherently more moral than any other form of committed relationship.
