biffoire
Oxygen was never running this year apparently anyway. So can cancel a festival which was never scheduled.

harderfaster
Feeder spoke about their IoW slot in a Radio 2 interview yesterday, so if it's IoW then the acts haven't been informed yet..!

thetime
I admire your confidence. The recession is taking some bigtime scalps, and it looks like this year is going to be no different.

mrtourette
It isn't going to be a major and the original tweet is probably exaggerating when it refers to a 'big' festival - worst case scenario it'll be a second tier festival like The Big Chill, Latitude, Hop Farm or Rockness or a smaller but well-known one like Kendal Calling, Wakestock or GuilFest (these are just examples, I have no idea where any of these are with their finances/ticket sales/announcements for this year). rexclark
Can't see it being Rockness as the headliners are getting announced next week and Lattitude have been mentioning an announcement soon as well. From what I've read on here and other sources I'd say The Big Chill would be the most likely candidate.
the_hedge
I think Paul is hinting quite clearly that it's the The Big Chil. It won't be any of the big ones.
Hendycfc
While i don't think it is, at the moment. You don't know their financials, they could be living close to the wire Glastonbury was for a bit until they almost didn't sell out and restructured. Could be IoW as they have had tickets on sale so know how much demand the fest is picking up this year? Even, so think it be one of the fests slightly under them!. Ed209
The Big Chill has sold all it's pre-main release tickets so you would have thought things would be rosy.
Yoghurt on a Stick
Its seeming almost certain its Big Chill now. Rumours rife all over the net and a friend of mine who is in the industry and has spent much time there has told me its looking bad. Plus Paul obviously knows something. Just occured to me, just because they said they've sold all its pre-main release tickets, doesn't mean they actually have. I imagine there was no predefined amount in the first place, probably just a cut off time. Tickets sales could have been really bad but Big Chill could have said that they had "sold out" of them to try and create a false sense of demand hoping it would create a real demand on general release. 5co77ie
I've heard from two sources now connected to production on Big Chill that they are unaware of the festival stopping and were still putting plans in place. That might mean that whilst RDB knows it is - those working on the infrastructure have not yet been told. As far as I can see "rumours rife all over the internet" come from three original tweets that name the festival as cancelled the biggest being Musicians Inc. and Ian Birrell. Medina
Someone who has worked professionally at Big Chill is working for the Wickham Festival this year and Wickham is the same weekend as Big Chill. I'll see what he knows tomorrow...
