6 Nations 2012

Its funny John Inverdale also looks so devestated whenever england lose a game. I thought Owen Farrell played well but the media loving (along with constant close ups of his dad) a bit sickening. There are lots of players who play equally well with a lot less coverage. You could tell the media were desperate to write their "Farrell inspires england to victory" stories and im glad they didnt get the chance.

I thought Scotland played really well today, pity they couldnt quite pull it off. I think Robinson has done really well making Scotland competitive, however it must be frustrating that over the last 2 years, in most games Scotland have put themselves in a position to win most games in the second half, yet have lost nearly everytime. Sky news just said 1 win in 8 six nations matches which on paper sounds terrible but it would have only taken a slight improvement to be 4 or 5.

Really happy to see us win today 3 grand slams in 8 years is an amazing achievement. I personally thought we didnt play as well as we could throughout the tournament but we were the most consistent team and deserved champions.

England must be happy with their 6 nations after a bad world cup. I have to admit as a welshman its difficult for me to praise england, however the inexperienced players did well. I still think some of their selections eg botha are a bit against the spirit of international rugby but suppose its in the rules.

Ireland look to be coming to the end of an era and unfortunately their choking tendancies dont seem to have gone away, I didnt see the game today but ireland should expect to have a lot closer game against england, I assume their coach must be on the way out. As for Scotland, wooden spoon is a bit of a disaster. I find them really hard to analyze they have been competitive in most of their 6 nation games in the last 2 years but have an amazing capacity to lose matches they have a chance of winning.

Didn't want to start a new thread for 2013.

As to what is currently happening...

England, can only see them being defeated by Wales because it's in Cardiff but that is by no means a certain.

Wales, stumbling along. A shame, they have the potential to be a real attractive attacking team.

Ireland...dead wood. That team needs a clear out.

France, same old same old. If they turn up they could smash their last two games but will they?

Scotland...two contrasting wins. Ran rings over the Italians and feck knows how they managed it but a win against Ireland is a win!

Italy, great start but it seems it was more to do with France being pants than them moving forward.

I am saying this from an Irish perspective but I don't think its fair to say Ireland have played crap. There's not one game they've been dominated in, and in the Wales, France and Scotland games, they've dominated for at least 50 mins. In the game last night, Ireland were doing everything up until the 60th min.

I think, again, the weather didn't help yesterday, but I'm talking about both games.

Excellent only a seven point victory for England. If Wales with by 7 points next week they probably win the championship, if they win by 8 they will win the championship.

Woo hoo! Good job by Italy today, they should have got more out of it though IMO.

Hope Wales can beat England next week, denying them the GS would be great but snatching the Championship would be great. The points difference now makes it easily possible.

Ireland just simply aren't fit. They can't play for 80 minutes and they lose focus after 60 minutes and end up getting injured or have to rely on old heads such as O'Driscoll and O'Gara to get them out of trouble. They've had one win against a Wales side that played terrible in the first half; Ireland could have easily lost the game even with the large advantages they had.

O'Gara seems done which is only a blessing as he hasn't played well since the 2009 Grand Slam. His slide started when he practically lost the Lions Tour in 2009.

I think they have been crap because they could easily be battling for the Championship next weekend but instead they are battling for 4th.

To be fair they have had a lot of injuries but they have waited far too long to blood new talent.

Would love to be proved wrong but can't see anything other than a Welsh win today.

Roof closed, experienced Welsh side, inexperienced English side, home advantage, Wales not conceded a try since the first half of the opening game, Walsh being the referee, all points to a home win.
