RockNess Facebook hinting at Daft Punk?!

Daft Punk knocked back Coachella this year in what I heard was a very good deal, if they're gonna knock back one of the biggest festivals in the world I can't see them coming to Rockness.

Even if they did they would be headlining the Main this time, no way would they be in the tent again.

Putting that picture up was a bit of a tease but I would never read into these things, festivals do it all the time and anyone nieave enough to buy a ticket off the back of a picture which clearly says 2007 deserves to lose money.

The fact that people automatically assume there to be life in this leads me to believe that there folk are more than a little underwhelmed with the line up so far. Prices are rocketing, (VIP upgrade £84.50!?) and there is little to cling to on what we have been drip fed so far. How long until the next lot of names are announced?

we'll have to agree to disagree that not liking mumford and sons, deadmau5, biffy, justice etc means that people will then automatically assume that daft punk will be playing. i cant make people like the line up but these are acts that we get asked for by the customers who have been coming since the start. biffy and justice have never been out of the top 5 'acts people want to see next year' for instance.

this is a tough one to ever get right. last year a lot of people complained that only releasing 3 acts in the 1st announcement and then more released after this was drip feeding.

i agreed with them and so this year we waited until we had a good amount of acts to release in one go which we havent ever done before.

if you want all the acts in one go then there wouldnt be an announcement until late february which is too late. we had a lot of complaints about people waiting to hear any acts until january so i need you to be fair and see some balance in how many acts can be announced and when they will agree to be announced.

Prices are rocketing

concert and festival tickets can be expensive. theres no escaping that but prices for GA tickets have gone up 6% which is only just above inflation.

early birds at 99 quid for 3 days at rock ness is very cheap though and even at full price, at just over £50 a day rock ness is comparable with other much smaller festivals that dont have the size of bill that rock ness provides. check the prices for some one day tickets and 2 day tickets at other shows in scotland and i think you'll see we are competitively priced.

i appreciate the comments and feedback. i'll come back on later for a chat with everyone.

Right, first of, let me just say, I absolutely love Rockness, it's by far my favourite festival.

But, Jim, the prices have went up £25 in just a year for the standard punter. Yeah, the £99 deal was amazing, but we didn't know the line up at the point, fair enough, that's why its cheaper. Student deals are good aswell, which I will be getting. But the normal ticket was £160 including fee's last year and I just checked, buying off the Offical Rockness supplier - Seetickets, with all fee's is £184.95. That's a bit greedy imo. That's only £20 under a 4 Day Camping ticket for T in the Park - which we all know is shite, but in terms of value for money for the calibre of acts that play and an extra day camping, is probably a better deal...

And the Daft Punk thing yesterday was kinda stupid, what did you expect people to think when you are still to announce 1 headliner and you put up a photo of the most requested act for the festival? Check the Facebook comments, all it's done is hyped people up and is gonna leave them disappointed.

Despite this, I can't wait for the festival and can't wait to see the rest of the line up.

...and another thing, it isn't just a random, ambiguous photo of Daft Punk...it clearly says "2007". That's like Man United posting a photo of past glories and putting a photo of Ronaldo up with "Uefa Champions League 2007-08"...he is clearly gonna re-sign!

Fair enough guys, just saw that they posted a Fatboy Slim video today aswell. I could understand why a festival would want to do that, but maybe Daft Punk was the wrong artist to start doing that with haha :P I mean, check out the comments below, literally every person took it as a sign/hint that they might be playing.

I'm sure as soon as Daft Punk are touring again Jim and his team will be doing thier upmost to get them back to Rockness.

The main problem is they'll only play if it fits into thier tour dates and another problem will be that TITP will probably be all over them and could offer a better deal.
