Anyone reckon these guys will play this year? Ive seen a lot of you have put them in your poster predections and with a new album out sometime in the summer i reckon they could be in with a shout of playing, reckon they could definately pull off 3rd/4th from top slot, maybe on the Foo Fighters day, what do you all think ?

I think 4th would be a good slot, maybe even 3rd following the trend of "surprisingly high American bands".

They looked good on the BBC highlights in 2010.

I'd rather see them sub headline the nme tent. I've seen them on their own tour, glasto and leeds a few times but their last set at leeds was not the greatest. Shame because they are one of my fav bands

Really good band and a good shout for the Foo Fighters day. I enjoyed the set 2 years ago but definitely thought they'd be better suited to a tent. 'Here's looking at you, kid' is a great song but somewhat lost on the outdoor stage.

I remember when they played The Lock Up stage and it is still one of my fave shows from the fest but I've seen them a few times since and they have never matched that time.

That was a cracking set in the lock up - really great atmosphere for 2nd band on in the day. Was a good day for me as discovered Frank Turner shortly afterwards too.

They were awful last time they played, ace the year before though in the tent.

reckon 5th or so would be right at the mo, if their next album is as good as 59 Sound and is released a few months before, they could command somewhere a bit higher up though

They would be stupid to put them on the main stage again, unless they could command a top 3 slot, which they couldn't, so a high NME slot it should be, sub-headliner or third from top.

With Gaslight not being announced for isle of wight or download and now for sonisphere surely they've got to be at r/l now ? Of course their is a chance they could be announced for either IOW, soni or download but it looks unlikely now. Fingers crossed!

Don't think they'll do IOW, it's the same weekend as Metalicca's Orion festival, doubt they'd come over just for IOW, even if all 3 headliners are a massive influence on them!

As for their 2010 performance, they're my favourite band so i thought they were fantastic as usual but i can understand people who aren't big fans thinking that they were dull. I was talking to Brian Fallon last summer and he said to me that he got the impression that the crowd didn't enjoy it that much.

The crowd was probably dead because they're one of those bands where you only know a lot of their songs if you're a fan. The only song they have that would wake up the casual fans is The '59 Sound and even then, it's hardly Sex On Fire in terms of notoriety.

I'd have probably enjoyed it but then I'm a fan of them.

I'm 99% sure that after R&L '10, they got interviewed and were asked how it was playing on main stage as opposed to NME and they didn't seem to like main, so could be high up on NME imo
