Green Day or The Cure ?

nothing against the band what so ever, but legends there not im afraid.

if Guns n Roses got the original line up back id say yes there worthy of the legends slot.

if AC/DC did it id agree they deserve it.

also if The Smiths reunited id be up in arms

but i just dont see them as a massive lengerdy band worthy of taking headline spot at R/L

legends they may not be but, Id much prefer giving Elbow a shot at it. i think there very deserving of it.

So why does a Smiths reunion seem more legendary than The Cure playing? Is it because The Cure didn't split up when they were at their peak?

last time (around 5 years ago) the cure publically suggested that Glasto should book them as headliners, Glasto publically said why? you weren't very good when you did.

The Cure are not a massive draw. They would draw less people to R/L than the standard R/L headliners.

But i can't believe they'd be less than headliners, and I believe they'd be a great booking that would add immensely to the richness of the R/L line-up.

Right i want to put this argument down as to why the Cure should play over Green day. Its NOT the best and i more want to say it because i wan't to see peoples reaction

So far we have Foo fighters- Will be an epic set, 20 years since Nirvana Live at reading blah blah blah

ANYWAY they're Rock, put quite 'poppy' in the sense most of they're songs are sing along's

Kasabian- First Time Headlining R/L, again a good band but still going to be an upbeat poppy set as most of they're songs are singalongs

then if You add green day- lets see, Most of they're songs are singalongs

But if you add the Cure- Yes have a good few 'pop' songs but mostly quite alternative and different

YES i appreciate all 4 do have 'Alternative stuff' (and when i mean alternative i mean just not singalong music, melodious)

BUT if you listen to the 'greatest hits' (Make one up for kesabian, it won't take long or be hard' You'll notice a distinct difference between The cures instead of the other two a lot more melodious and less sing along songs

What i'm saying is The Cure Stand out from the other two bands, And i think this is a reccuring trend in R&L line ups

Also (This next bits up to matter of opinion) But you seem to get 2 'poppy' bands and 1 that plays more 'melodious and alternative stuff'

2011: MCR, THE STROKES. MUSE

2010 BLINK, GNR ARCADE FIRE

2009 ARTIC MONKEYS, KOL. RadioHead

2008: The KILLERS, RAGE METALLICA (i think rage are a little more singalong than Metallica, but still both alternatives really')

2007: RHCP, RAZORLIGHT Smashing Pumpkins

2006: Franz, Pearl Jam MUSE (Again if anything more alternative

2005: IRON MAIDEN, FOOS The Pixes

(the trend DEFINED stops before 2005 though, however that's 7)

So yeah, its more obvious some years and more debatable others but Do you see WHY the cure make a little more sense with this Argument??

I'm quite sure Robert Smith & co. would have been told what R&L are like these days. I just don't see it beneficial them headlining any stage at R&L unless there Max Clifford stirred up a mahoosive buzz for them March time.
