Hey all,

What do you think about design of festivals and events ?

I tend to believe that design is brilliant and that when an interesting theme of feature has been introduced that it can create a great party atmosphere and enhance my experience, which is why i end up returning to certain festivals and events.

Would love to hear your thoughts ?

and also fill in my student survey on design experience.

I like themes at festivals, gives them character. The variation at festivals do draw me back and lack of such themes actually puts me off them, TITP is one. It's just a big commercial lump.

Glastonbury is great for themes and unique design: The Park, Shangri-La, Dance Village etc even just little things like flags and blow ups make it feel more fun and at such a large festival can be not only nice for atmosphere and appearance but also finding your way around. The Park at Glastonbury is one of my favourite, especially at night. It gets a sort of quirky, village fair feel at night and looks amazing.

On the opposite side of scale, Field Day in London. It's not much but tries to have a farm market type feel with hay bails, hand made cake stalls etc now it's a small festival but has a nice feel to it and because it isn't just a commercial entity it leaves you with unique memories and not just 'good gig last night' type thing.
