I'm not sure the whole Florence subbing The Cure thing would work thinking about it. I think it'd make more sense to have the big stadium/arena power pop acts on the Kasabian day and have a more The Cure fanbase ready day. It'll shift day tickets.

Something like

The Cure

Bloc Party

The Black Keys

Kasabian

Florence & The Machine

Kaiser Chiefs

Foo Fighters

Dizzee Rascal

Tenacious D

I hate to say I told you so, but I have been insisting this for ages. Absolutely fantastic news, best R/L headliner in about 4 or 5 years. I'll definitely get a ticket, well done MB, pat on the back Kasabian-Foos-The Cure is a great run of headliners, they might not all be to my tastes, but they're all great picks.

I'm 26 and I got into the Cure when I was 18, they are still played in indie clubnights every week all over the country, its a great booking and in my opinion the best booking since Radiohead

Its a strange booking imo. A festival that is leaning towards its younger audience and booking more "popular" acts book a headliner that has been out of the news in years and about 10 years past their peak

The performance they did at the nme awards a couple of years ago was absolutely dreadful.

Been looking for a reason not to go to Leeds and this is it.

So glad I made the choice to go to Optimus Alive this year... the majority of the R/L crowd won't appreciate the Cure & I'd rather be at a festival with real fans enjoying the music, as much as I've enjoyed R/L it's increasingly becoming full of drunk/drugged up teenagers just there for the power trip & a couple of days away from mummy. I'm not saying I won't attend again, just that I'm glad that I'm seeing the Cure else where.

Wonderful choice, T and V have been the definition of shite so this comes as a welcome change.

Massive back catalogue of songs, so much depth outside of the obvious hits too.

The talk of Link Park etc was worrying but we got there! The Cure will be remembered for a long time and will go down as one of the best British bands and one of the most original I think

I urge people to listen to Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me in its entirety same goes for disintegration and seventeen seconds.

And I too, like many other it seems on here tonight, am not just an old man stuck in the past, I'm 19 and know others my age who are equally excited

I cannot wait.

Best set of headliners I've seen since I've been going to Reading (since 2009). Admittedly I would have preferred Green Day or Blur, but I am still massively excited for The Cure and I think they'll nail it! Festival of the summer based on rumours- definitely!
