Best show ever?

Arcade Fire 2010. Easily. Close enough to the stage to appreciate how talented they are, size of the crowd made it feel almost intimate, a humble yet faultless performance.

Best performance from 2011 - DFA1979/The National. 2009 - Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Maybe? Struggling to recall a standout act.

It was my first time of seeing them, probably the best gig I've ever been to, inside and outside of the festival.

I was about four rows away from front row too so everybody was pretty appreciative of the band, knew the words to every song, etc. Your surroundings and the atmosphere around you certainly can play a key role in determining an opinion of a gig.

They're leagues better at their own shows. Definitely go to them next time they tour.

I was as well! Most of the crowd were reasonable, but there were still a few idiots talking and saying how they were glad they'd claimed a good spot for the Strokes (not even Pulp).

I was at Reading btw, were you the same or at Leeds?

Missed the italics in the quote and presumed you were talking about Arcade Fire up until this point. Facepalm moment eh ;_;

In regards to The National, was my third time of seeing them and I agree it was their weakest performance of all three. Most of the crowd weren't really interested (apart from a group of overly-ethusiastic middle aged men in front of me) but nonetheless a sterling peformance. Nice to watch from a distance as the sun set. I was at Leeds btw.

my favourites set from the past 9 years include Metallica ( both 03 and 08) Weezer (2010) NIN (2007) Faith No More (2009) and everytime The Bronx have played

System of a Down in 2003 was pretty rad too, was dusty as hell and crowd was massive and loud!

Not the best set but the one I was most looking forward to was Sonic Boom 6 opening mainstage in 09, as they are a band I've been following for years ever since their 1st album and watched them in half empty tiny venues and were a major reason for me going that year after deciding not to before they were announced.
