What makes you buy a reading/leeds ticket?

Has to be the line-up for me. The first year I went, I bought it off the cuff without knowing the line-up. Although I loved it that year, I then went out and explored festivals and I really can't justify spending money on R&L without the line-up being really special, when there's other much more rounded fests out there.

I'm considering The Cure this year, but I know the line-up will let me down so I doubt it.

Line-up and accessibility. Reading is one of the few festivals I can get to by public transport without effort, and tends to have bigger acts. When they're the ones I want to see, it's often easier + cheaper (factoring travel costs) to go to Reading than anywhere else.

Hate the festival now though, takes bands as good as The Cure for me to even consider going.

Usually the line up...having said that apart from a few bands last year I wasn't overly fussed on the line up, wasn't gonna go but ended up getting a ticket for way below face value a week before so went and it was probably one of the best years I've been!

I pretty much always love a good selection of bands that are playing, so the lineup is never really an issue for me. It's pretty close so a good group of my friends can easily drive there, and it's the last big festival of the summer. Always a guaranteed good time.

Partly the music but then I'm pretty openminded and so can find enough acts to see at pretty much any festivals, this year I'm doing reading and bestival and probably a cheap/free ticket on the day for v festival coz I live down the road from the site (but v is shit with the worst atmosphere)

Mostly the fun I have with my mates I'd rather spend my money on a festival than a holiday

Also reading was my first festival back in 2005 when I was 13 and so it has some sentimental value I s'pose.

I bought one last year because I was sort of, ok with the lineup. It was shit compared to previous years but the 5 days with friends, beer and awesome music really makes it.

If I was going alone, or going with just a few friends I probably wouldn't have gone last year.
