thesecretingredientiscrime
I think with Soni out of the picture, Reading will look to add a more 'heavier' dimension to the line ups again, as seen with the addition of Mastodon. It's only so long they can keep booking the same names over and over again, they need to add variety, if they want to keep selling tickets. Reading usually go for a 'big' headliner every year, Foos, Muse, GNR, Radiohead, Metallica etc., so who would be the likely one if not PJ? Which is why I think they're likely, as well as they haven't played in ages, so no worries about them being a repeat booking.

gazza_20
I don't think they'll do HRC again though. I dunno, is he even touring next year or planning an album? I'd say he is more of a risk for R/L than Pearl Jam.
gazza_20
Hasn't it been 7 years since Kasabian last played? And it's been 33 years since The Cure last played. Silly silly argument.

Andre91
It is but it is what it is. It is the fest aimed at that person before they go to sixth form/college or off t uni. Hence why they don't have instant money for it. The fest needs to start booking bands again which target a audience that does have the dough. Andre91
So basically you don't know anything about them so there Shit, and nobody else would either. Music is ageless, you really think fans dont listen to bands that were around before they were born?
Hart Attack
Has to be said but if those lineups were released, the festival industry would be in a even worse place it is now.
thetime
...because there would be no good bands left to play in 2014?

Gucci Piggy
This would be my ideal top fours for next year Pearl Jam Queens of the Stone Age Weezer Public Enemy Radiohead Jack White Editors White Lies Blur Bloc Party Franz Ferdinand Frank Turner I am aware that we won't get three headliners of this calibre though, and I expect Frank Turner to headline the NME. 2rare2die
And The Cure have a place long standing in rock, but possibly still shouldn't be there, so no silly argument at all.
Mouseboy11
I don't see why SOAD are big enough to Headline Reading? They don't fit the demographic at all and aren't that popular with teenagers!

Mouseboy11
Are the cure? Edited June 24, 2012 by Mouseboy11
Andre91
I still think that if the organisers wanted SOAD to headline, they would have gone for them last year because of the reunion. But Download we're always going to be favourites to have them. I'd love to see them headline Reading and Leeds, but like people have been saying. they're just not that popular anymore, yet I don't think they would choose to sub at R&L when they could headline Soni or DL. thetime
The cure are popular with all the Indie kids, emo to some extent. Whereas SOAD are much more of a metal band and you wouldn't find those that listen to people like Two Door Cinema Club and bands like that listening to them. I like SOAD but I'd say they're about on par with the Deftones in terms of popularity at this fest now they have lost the reunion factor. and The Deftones played 4th down last year.
