efestivals gets things wrong all the time.

that's the nature of non-official sources.

But it's also the case that we get far less wrong than other sites, and it's exceedingly rare for us to say "XYZ is playing" and then they don't. And it's also the case that when things do turn out to be wrong when the festival happens were right at the point I got the info (such as was the case with Ten D this year).

Any compare and contrast with just about every other website that does rumours gets to show that it's really not worth paying attention to those others and instead look at efests only. While others do get stuff right that comes down to nothing more than guesses most of the time - and if you make enough guesses you're bound to get some of them right; that's all that's going on at the likes of SR.

All that aside, rumours is just a small part of what we do - and is why we get four times the traffic of our nearest rival. If all we did was rumours we'd not get greater traffic than any other festival site.

the filter actually got taken off for a while within the last two or three years, after they promised to play nicely. That didn't last very long.

I'm sure I remember it being something else a while ago. I'm not surprised it got put back quickly though.

I can't imagine Green Day were arranged to play anywhere near when they came out and said they were headlining. It's just a stroke of luck that they said they were headlining and then they turned up in a secret slot.

It's very very obvious that they were lined up very late. Otherwise they'd have had a slot reserved for them, instead of the tent having to open early so there was somewhen for them to play.

That aside, I know beyond all doubt that at the beginning of the year they were not planning to play Reading this year.

So Strictly were talking out of their arse, and got lucky.
