Apparently Black Keys have been voted most likely to headline in the future also mentioned are Vaccines, Of Monters & Men, Two Door Cinema Club, Bombay Bicyle Club, Alabama Shakes, Lana Del Ray, You Me At Six, Passion Pit and Joy Formidable.

All of them are bit meh to be headline in the future imo.

I quite like the second Vaccines album, not as sharp as the first but stripped-back with some interesting influences more obvious than on the first album. If they'd have released this album first and didn't have the NME hype it would probably be far more acceptable to like them rather than them being blackballed from the moment NME started to push them.

Nah, the NME liked the second album too so they would still be black balled.

TBH I can't even remember their 1st album, I listened to it because they were either a support band or at a fest I was going to and my main impression was that it was 30 mins long and I can't remember if I thought it was any good or not.

I read it occasionally and think it gets too much stick. There's enough good stuff in it every now and again (when factoring out the aforementioned uninspiring indie bands) to make it readable and they've just hired one of my favourite current music journalists as their deputy editor, so hopefully that'll make it better.

I saw them support The Stone Roses at Heaton Park, which was pretty much a mini-festival, and they were so dull.

I guess the likes of The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club are a a slight improvement on five years ago when utter shite like The Fratellis, The Pigeon Detectives and The Enemy ruled the roost, but it's still not an exciting tim for British guitar music.

Oh, it's formulaic as fuck, music by numbers, performed by some guys who very much look as tho they've thought about what formula would work and then done it (rather than doing music they like). I'm not saying they're the world's best-ever band or anything.

But all the same, what they do is going to take in huge numbers of people, in the exact same way as (particularly) two certain bands have done.

If they keep playing to the formula and don't start believing their own press they're going to go a long way.

Not sure which two certain bands you're referring to. Or is it one of the bands I've already mentioned and I'm just having a blonde moment? :P

I actually think if they stuck to that formula people would get bored of their music eventually as it would be really predictable. That was pretty much the downfall of Oasis

There's one of them. And it took 20 years for some people to get bored, and plenty never did.
