kaosmark2
Didn't have a new album out when they headlined V this year but they will by Reading next year, which means renewed hype etc

DL50
Which just makes it an even more obvious and uninspiring booking......
metallimuse
...The Killers... More importantly they are one of the last big guitar bands that can still hold their own in mainstream music,

kaosmark2
Fair enough they may be uninspiring but i don't think FR are exactly spoilt for choice with big bands doing the rounds The Killers are massive and have good croud pleasing indie songs, just think everyone should accept that they'll be doing the rounds next year and stop complaining about it
DL50
Errr... The Libertines were being touted for months. All the fan forums knew in at least Feb.
Dan R
Ispecifically remember efests saying headliners were gonna be MCR, Arcade Fire and Blink and didn't know about Libertines and GnR til a couple of weeks before lineup announcements when that guy posted in the forum, there were small rumours beforehand but nothing major, sorry but it was a massive surprise when we found out they were playing
AStuartEP
Main Stage Friday: System Of A Down Avenged Sevenfold Machine Head Saturday: Prodigy Chase + Status Two Door Cinema Club Sunday: The Killers (Dont want them, but its seeming the most probable) Mumford And Sons The Hives (Deffo Need A Higher Slot Next Year)
Dyad
Firstly, someone said the Cure was an inspiring booking because nobody expected them. This is untrue. It was pretty well known they were headlining in about December that they were being booked. And someone made a great point before that it would have been more inspiring had they not already headlined Bestival the year before. I totally agree. Dont get me wrong though I love the Cure, couldnt have been happier they played. Also, I never said that Pearl Jam didnt have a right to headline, I would never doubt their right to headline. Again though, headlined Isle of White this year, so hardly 'inspiring' either. I would love to know what people are classing as an inspiring headliner as opposed to one who isnt? As for being boring, I dont get why theyd be boring unless you dont like them. If you like them it wont be boring. I dont like Biffy Clyro, but I appreciate that people do, theyd be boring to me, but to fans they wouldnt, it would be stupid for me to say theyre a boring headliner if they do headline just because I dont like them. Dyad
Really? An inspiring booking is a booking that doesn't immediately stand out as an obvious choice, or an act that haven't played festivals for a while. It is basically an act that is a bit of a risk for the organisers, like MCR. The killers are about as uninspiring as they get as they have played every UK festival in the past 5 years and only played the festival in direct competition to reading last year. kaosmark2
Ahahahaha, brilliant. Yeah MCR was a brilliant booking, no one complained about them headlining at all. Youd rather them book MCR to headline than the Killers? At least I now understand what the difference between inspiring and uninspiring. Inspiring is someone who most people think are shit, and definitely arent big enough to headline. I can see why youre complaining that the Killers are uninspiring

VCK
While I disagree with a lot of what he's saying, I don't think bringing people's post counts into things is really a good thing to do. That'll leave us with a clique of established posters just arguing the same thing over and over again. It's how we end up bored, using formulas to calculate how much we like and just posting numbers at each other. OK, we laugh out anyone without a proven rep when they come on with a 'leaked lineup' or 'this band will play, guranteed' (spl. mistake intentional), but this guy's just arguing a point. A stupid point where he doesn't understand the meaning of a word sure, but he's still arguing a point.
