I don't think there would be an issue over young people not knowing the songs. They are pretty big.

I think the major issue is that anybody who wanted to see them last year could quite easily have done. thetime is right in saying that there would be little point to having them play without new material, and considering the amount of time they have spent touring I think it is unlikely they would have a new album ready for next summer.

I disagree that the Stone Roses wouldn't go down well at Reading. Without trying to sound like a dick i'm 18 and me and a lot of my friends love them, even though I was -5 when they released their first album, and I think a lot of people my age are like that also.

Although Neil has ruled them out for Reading on the glasto forums (something melvin said apparently) so I don't know why we're arguing.

There's been a sudden surge of bandwagon jumpers since they reformed, 15 year olds who call themselves 'mods' and wear Fred Perry and Topman gear. They seem to bee the biggest fans ever of all the Northern Indie bands, even though they probably weren't interested in that kind of music two years ago. So I think they would go down well at Reading and Leeds.

As much as I love the Roses, can you imagine a day like this?

The Stone Roses

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

Miles Kane

The Enemy

It would. I just recommend you all bring a poncho even if the weather that day is scorching, because you're bound to be drenched in flying cups of piss! tongue.png

Roses, yes, Noel, I'd see for the Oasis classics although I think his High Flying Birds is overrated.

Can't stand The Enemy though, apart from Gimme The Sign just because it reminds me of a Manics song. And really not into Miles Kane, I find him too gimmicky with the whole "mod revivalist" thing.

It astounds me how people think Miles Kane is innovative when all he does is try and replicate that whole 60s sound. Same with Jake Bugg for that matter, really don't see the fuss. He's like Paolo Nutini after he's inhaled a load of helium and had studio effects dubbed over his music to give him that "authentic" 60s sound, yet all the Topman kids have latched onto him just because he has the whole, ahem, mod look.
