Andy0808 v3.0
The Killers really did seem to drag on at V festival this year so really hope they don't play R+L
Luke Routledge
Anyone think that Linkin Park could sub? I am a fan but there last album wasnt great and I cant see them headlining anymore. They are set to sub the Soundwave festival as well

jump
Fact of the matter is that when Metallica headline a festival,it more or less sells out. Ok, Reading sells out anyway but Download and Sonisphere definately sell more tickets if Metallica play.(in fact,no better example than Sonisphere 2010 compared to sonisphere 2011). Luke Routledge
Metallica think they have a new album out soon. Massive ticket seller and I can't see them at soni or download again http://www.nme.com/news/metallica/66418

Luke Routledge
Start working on it soon not will have it out soon. They've previously said that they'll start work on it during 2013 and have it out in 2014, this article doesn't suggest any different. For them 'soon' could be any time, if they haven't even got a producer sorted it it's likely to be months rather than weeks.
jump
Yeah I understand that but I still think that because there is new material on the way they could play. Look at Slipknot at download who are doing the exact same thing or Prodigy this year. Also they said that they cant afford not to play festivals and reading is the only festival in England they can do. http://www.nme.com/n...metallica/64054

jump
Yeah it could happen, in the same way that it could be 100 other bands, as there's nothing to confidently rule them out (other than the negative remarks made about them by Melvin Benn). However I don't think that having a new album out in 2014 and the fact that they like touring as a means of making more money (I think that 'can't afford not to' is a bit of a twist by either them or NME, I'm sure they're very comfortable financially, and if they actually made a decent fucking album again maybe they'd earn more in royalties) is any evidence that they're likely to be headlining in 2013. lharris92
I've seen InMe seven times now but I'd still go see them above pretty much anyone else if they headlined FR. If only.
OllieBaker90
There is no metal headliner next year apparently so we can stop saying Metallica, i think they will be there in 2014

the wonderwhy
Yup called this a while ago. I would be surprised not to see them there. I'd call Green Day and Metallica as two for 2014. Emirates will rule GD out but the fact they agreed to play a set at 11am in the morning, says to me, out of anything R&L is something they are more open to than they once were. You just need your big indie band around at the time.
Gucci Piggy
That could get interesting if Mumford play this year, as it doesn't leave a great deal of choices...
