How bizzare. I guess a secret glastonbury gig would be ideal for those purposes. I assume it won't be a Hyde Park Calling or Wireless gig then?

I'd off thought a Victoria Park gig would make more sense, closer to their fanbase.

Could literally mean nothing, but Reading facebook page have just put up a link promoting The Libertines' 'Up the Bracket' ten year anniversary in this week's NME. I know this probably doesn't mean anything, but them just before Blur would be DECENT!

The tour has sold out apart from the last date at Earls Court which is an arena.

I have a reason for throwing them out of the hat. The word is that they're planning a headlining show at Hyde Park for next summer.

Yes, I know that sounds an odd one, cos I think it'll sell very poorly. But apparently, if what i've heard is true, they're in rather desperate need to set up some festival gigs, so that their reputation doesn't become damaged.

So along with that Hyde Park show, expect them to pop-up at some other festivals. But I'm thinking Reading/Leeds won't be one of those others.

Is this from what Ro said on his website? If so, I'd suggest believing a man who's (amongst other things which make him look less credible than ANYTHING EVER) currently selling off locks of Doherty's hair for hundreds of pounds, would probably not be the best. I am assuming there's something else in it though : p

I have a better source than that.

Essentially, what's happening is happening because of the same motivator as has always been the case with this band - the want of as much money as possible for doing as little as possible.

But rather amusingly, the band think their rep is something different to that.

I reckon theyll play 3rd if they play. I think theyre slightly bigger than Bullet, and I was suprised they managed to book them 4th. They also don't tour so much, as well as being bigger internationally.

That said I highly doubt theyll play.

They have a drummer called Arin Ilejay who has recorded a couple of songs and toured with them.

Not known whether he is permanent, just jamming and seeing what he can offer to the band

I wasn't there in 2010 but from what I gather, The Libertines performance that year was something special so I kinda feel it would be pointless to book them to sub so soon after last time.

Still, I wouldn't complain if they supported Blur

They've had a strong history with Reading and Leeds so I assume that's why the official page mentioned them.

Mumford under Killers is logical but I don't think that'll happen and that both the most talked about with they, won't they will both do it. Reckon T will get the advantage of Mumford in a sub spot, and maybe even Biffy too.

Chances are it'd be Up The Bracket in full then a few others. That said, it'd be a show V hasn't got so I expect them at V, Wireless, Glasto and T in the Park. If by what Neil says goes right, wouldn't be surprised with a 2 for 1 Soundgarden style thing.
