2013 Lineup

If it's the strongest possible line up then Biffy (a band that has spent this summer subbing English major fests and headlining smallish Scottish fests) would sub. There's a various question marks of them not being able to headline a fest the size of R&L.

There's nothing to say that a band must be pushed to headline status every year, for example 2009, 2012 etc

You could have any number of bands headline and sub from the the rumour mill that would be stronger such as

Sabbath

Biffy

Blur

Libertines

Killers

Mumford

or

Sabbath

Prodigy

Pearl Jam

Noel Gallagher

Kings Of Leon

Jack White

I think you need to change Blur and Slipknot as sub, can't see that happening but not bad. Jack White, not that it means much necessarily but Neil hinted that he used 'band' generally, Jack had a backing band put is labelled as solo.

If he didn't head IOW due to heading not offered and since people have just taken more to him, why wouldn't he demand a head spot at R&L? Given you're probably going to get a set heavy of Stripes covers and they without doubt would headline.

Black Sabbath

Bloc Party

Jack White

Mumford & Sons

The Killers

Biffy Clyro

Probably. Jack is pretty huge generally to be fair and it may need to be offered to stop say IOW going back in for him. The good thing is, he wouldn't head V so IOW is the only one really. I'd expect him at T but that's not really an issue as he won't headline there, I'd very much doubt

I just can't see Sabbath working at Reading and Leeds myself, unless they're trying to totally change the dynamic of the festival again.

The way Reading has been in recent years theres been no place for an old school rock act, I can't see why they'd risk their audience.

Someone who is a Sabbath fan wouldn't go to Reading to wath them, that showed with Download last year, tickets didn't fly out the door and Reading is going to appeal FAR less than Download did.

Neil heard Blur don't want to play UK shows next year.

He does and it works really well live (apart from Hotel Yorba which sounds like a hillbilly song now) but he still hasn't got the same draw as The White Stripes. His London dates still haven't sold out which probably would have been done with ease if it was The White Stripes.

While I agree, I think it's slightly unfair to judge him by that, because over the past year or so, he's played the majority of London venues. I think he went through a stage of testing the waters to see if popularity was still there fan wise, which equates possibly to everyone who wants to see him, having already done so.
