Andre91
They weren't shit live. At what they do (did) they were the best of their generation. And Kasabian are decent live too.
BTK1609
I'm sure they will reform within the next 5 years. I absolutely loved them (although the last couple of albums were piss poor) but I was actually glad they split up. They were tired, producing dull predictable music and just going through the motions. While Beady Eye have predictably flopped Noel seems revitalised and I can't wait to see him live. Give it a few more years and the demand will be huge for a reunion and I'm sure it will happen. I don't think there is any real animosity between them and at the end of the day money talks! Vieuphoria
Did Beady Eye actually flop? I thought they had a top 5 album and a sell out tour? I could be wrong on both of those as I've not checked?

thetime
^^^ You are entitled to your opinion mate but I disagree. I said best at what they did which to me is huge anthems that get the place going. I wouldn't directly compare them to Radiohead or even Blur. As for better than the Manics, Furrys or Embrce in my opinion they were miles better than all of them and I've seen them all live. That is all any of this is though, opinions. Out of interest when did you see them live because for me they were a million times better in the 90's.

BTK1609
To me they are the best band of their generation full stop but we will never agree on that lol! Most musically gifted no, innovative hell no, was Liam the best singer again no (although in the 90's he was very good). But for belting out anthems with tens of thousands singing along that were the soundtrack to my childhood I just loved them. The beauty of music though hey, all about opinions! Andre91
Plus they've sold something like 70 million records compared to Radiohead's 30 million and Blur's 15 million (don't quote me on that, its something around that). Although records sales mean nothing really, it does show that they were the most popular band of their era.
GRichards23
Green Day to release 3 albums in the coming months. Billie Joe Armstrong just confirmed on his twitter. Can't wait! Would love them to headline next year although I can't see it.

Andre91
Depends what you mean uk and europe or america. Of course it takes more than a pea of a brain to enjoy radiohead and blurs later music!!! Yeas they were a Phenomenon in the mid 90s(so were spice girls) and there timing was perfect. With the advent of britpop, lager louts, laddettes etc etc. The problem was they never grew out of that and never improved or advanced there sound...result? Another reason why I hate oasis/kasabian at festivals is the type of fans they attract, boozed up lager louts and liam shouting your all w*nkers... But to be fair they couldnt change there sound because they have not got very talented musicians in the group and never have., so they had to stick to the tried and tested formula of the mid 90s high. Shootenanny!
I saw Kasabian headlining TITP 2010, expected big things from them because of their live reputation but was rather let down and ended up going off to watch Madness who were much better. Hopefully that was just an off night though, they are a decent band. To chip in on a couple of other conversations, Arctic Monkeys were brilliant live both times I saw them last year (TITP and their own show) so I'd recommend people not judge them purely on the performances at the time of Humbug when they seemed a bit dull live. Similarly, I thought MCR put in a brilliant headline performance at Leeds last year, as did Pulp. Enjoyed Muse and The Strokes too although both of them just seemed to be going through the motions a bit rather than putting everything into it like the first two. And finally, Oasis were great live when I saw them on the Dig Out Your Soul too but having seen both Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher live too I would say Noel solo is the best of the lot live. That's from a totally unbiased point of view because I prefer Oasis' albums to either of the new ones and like Beady Eye's as much as Noel's. VCK
Slightly related, anyone notice how there's been a bit of an Oasis bandwagon lately? The past few days on Twitter there's been a few Oasis related trends, mainly from 13 year olds who say "MAD FER IT" and also like Arctics and The Stone Roses, because they think it'll give them Indie credentials I'm a fan of all three of those bands, especially the Roses who I love but five years ago when I was listening to the Roses and Oasis religiously they were deemed unfashionable and barely anyone I knew listened to them. Has all the hype surrounding Noel's solo album and the fact that every other fucking article related to music or football the past 6 months seems to be about him created some sort of bandwagon? It's reminiscent of the RATM X-Factor campaign when people suddenly became huge fans just because the press kept namechecking them, when a few years before no-one talked about them. And just to tie my post up. Radiohead > Oasis. As do Blur, as do Pulp, as do the Manics. All those bands changed from the original sound that made them popular but they all kept their ability to write amazing songs. Oasis, on the other hand, released record after record of boring MOR dirge. They should have called it a day in 2000 when Noel quit the band for a while. Andre91
I'm 20 and I've been a fan of Oasis since I was a little kid, and all through secondary school Oasis were always massively popular because its what we had grown up with. But that was 5 years ago or so. When Arctic Monkeys came out (my favourite band ) literally EVERYONE was into them, it was obvious that a lot of people who hadn't followed them for a while were just jumping on the bandwagon. They soon fell off though when Humbug got released (I love that album). As for The Stone Roses, I'd heard the odd track and thought they were alright, but it wasn't until they announced the comeback that I really got into them. So I dont know if you would count me as one of the ones jumping on yhe bandwagon but I'm the only one out of all my friends who listens to them and a lot of people at uni don't know who they are, which I find odd because even when I wasn't a big fan I was still aware of them.
