I'm 20 and I've been a fan of Oasis since I was a little kid, and all through secondary school Oasis were always massively popular because its what we had grown up with. But that was 5 years ago or so. When Arctic Monkeys came out (my favourite band :P) literally EVERYONE was into them, it was obvious that a lot of people who hadn't followed them for a while were just jumping on the bandwagon. They soon fell off though when Humbug got released (I love that album). As for The Stone Roses, I'd heard the odd track and thought they were alright, but it wasn't until they announced the comeback that I really got into them. So I dont know if you would count me as one of the ones jumping on yhe bandwagon :P but I'm the only one out of all my friends who listens to them and a lot of people at uni don't know who they are, which I find odd because even when I wasn't a big fan I was still aware of them.

Great to see Sleeper get a mention. I absolutely loved them and the lead singer whose name escapes me was absolutely stunning! OCS, Suede and Cast were all fantastic to. They only did the one album but the Seahorses are certainly worth a look for younger Indie fans on here.

Arctics really put me off their live shows with both their performance at Leeds in 09 and their 09 Newcastle arena date a few month later. Both on the humbug tour.

They seemed dull, and dis interested on both occasions. Listening to recent reviews however has made me want to give em another try.

I thought the EP Alex Turner did for the Submarine soundtrack was one of the best things he's ever released, up there with any Arctic Monkeys album.

Combine that with Suck It And See being my favourite Monkeys album since the first one and I'd definitely say they're on the top of their game just now!

I've seen Arctics live during each album era, and Reading 2009 was probably the worst. Probably a combination of too much unfamiliar material, a bit of a lacklustre performance and I also remember it being very cold! They can perform well though, and when they do it's brilliant.

If their new album sounds like R U Mine, that would be great. It's an amazing tune.

Suck It And See is good, there's some real belters on there, but imo there's a bit too much filler. A few of the songs just merge into a bit of a blur imo, but it shows again that they can play different music and try new things.

If I have to put their albums in order of my preference:

1. Whatever People Say I Am... /Favourite Worst Nightmare (TIED!)

2. Humbug

3. Suck It And See

Slightly related, anyone notice how there's been a bit of an Oasis bandwagon lately? The past few days on Twitter there's been a few Oasis related trends, mainly from 13 year olds who say "MAD FER IT" and also like Arctics and The Stone Roses, because they think it'll give them Indie credentials  I'm a fan of all three of those bands, especially the Roses who I love but five years ago when I was listening to the Roses and Oasis religiously they were deemed unfashionable and barely anyone I knew listened to them.

Arctics at Leeds 2009 is one of the worst performances I'd seen by any band. It was like watching a support act at a gig, not one of the biggest bands in the country headline one of the world's premier festivals, plus having The Prodigy on before who put on a good show didn't help.

However, I feel if I was better acquainted with Humbug I'd have enjoyed it more.

I find myself listening to their last two albums more than the first two. Their debut has some cracking songs on it but I feel some of the songs could have been by any mid-2000s Indie guitar band.

well it does yes, but i was saying most people's 1st. I find it a bit boring, I don't think you'll easily find a better debut album than arctic's 1st and it it heavily thought of as one of the finest debut's ever, 2nd in my opinion had good tracks but some of them showed lack of imagination. Alex his self said they don't know how to make a big hit anymore.

Cornerstone IMO is the best song off of Humbug by a fair bit. Potion Approaching starts like it's going to be good then it just isn't. Pretty Visitors is IMO the 2nd best, it's alrite but Corner Stone in my view can be repeated many times and is the only one.

Humbug is a very slow and dreary easy to turn of album IMO.

That is your opinion. My opinion is that musically, their second album is their best. Songs like Do Me A Favour, This House Is A Circus, 505 are some of the best they have ever made I think. I also think that there are better tracks on Humbug than Cornerstone, but everyone has different tastes :)

I agree though that their first album is the best debut by a British band, its an awesome album. And if thats your opinion then that's cool, Humbug isnt everyone's cup of tea.

They are 3 of the songs I'd point out from the 2nd album but 505 I feel got a bit boring and over played. my favourite song from number 2 and arguably IMO the best track they made was Florescent Adolescent.

On Suck It And See, I think in the 1st 6 songs, Brick By Brick and Library Pictures are the only 2 worth mentioning and I'm still unsure on Library Pictures even in that.
