Mouseboy11
But, does everything have to be upbeat and positive? Sometimes, what some people would term as "depressing music" and dull has a purpose. The lyric-writing is often very good and with the instrumentation leads to a lot of beauty in music, e.g. Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, a lot of Radiohead's material. thetime
No it doesn't you're right but I don't know there's something that Radiohead and Sigur Ros have that Bon Iver doesn't. I think Radiohead and Sigur Ros have a sense of scale and epicness. Whereas Bon Iver have this "floaty" feel that just doesn't do it for me. justice11
The prodigy, Bloc party (depending on the success of their new album) and Blur would suite me very well, not out of the question either
Gucci Piggy
I find say the likes of muse music more boring and uninspiring than the beauty of bon iver.
MAD HARRY 27
I definitely agree with what you're saying here (though not with Muse as they're my favourite band, but the point still stands). I often find much more downbeat music by the likes of Radiohead to be more exciting than generic upbeat stadium rock or whatever.

thetime
Though, 'downbeat' stadium rock can be terrible also, *cough* Coldplay *cough*.
Gucci Piggy
I much preferred Coldplay when they were downbeat.
VCK
Yeah, I think the Roses will play Glastonbury. There's no way Eavis won't try to get them. Just to throw in a headliner that hasn't been suggested yet (I don't think)....what are AC/DC doing next year?

VCK
Not a chance in hell and if they did play it would seriously fuck up the fest.
jump
How come? The two stage thing they had at Download the other year?
Andre91
Didn't AC/DC also make it so it wasn't 'Friday' at Download, but AC/DC at Donnington? If you get what I mean Edited May 30, 2012 by Andre91
VCK
Ah, fair enough. Yeah, it would be a bad idea booking a band with that attitude. Even KOL and Axl Rose wouldn't be that egotistical.
Gucci Piggy
I think if KOL requested their own stage the response would be hilarious

thetime
I know maiden get mentioned every so often, watched them on sky arts last night and they were funny as anything. But they were playing infront of 250,000 people so im sure they still have the pulling power in the uk and with maybe only downloadother than r&l they could play then maybe. BTK1609
I'm aware the consensus on here is that there is no chance that Slipknot will be back at Reading in 2013 so for those more informed than me when do you think they will be back? And if not back at Reading when do people expect them back in the UK for their own tour or another festival appearance, next year or 2014? BTK1609
Rumoured tour in December this year mate, heard it could be the last one.
Mouseboy11
Thanks for that mate, I will have to keep my eyes peeled. I was never the biggest fan but the mrs younger sister has really got me into them. Never realised there was a chance it may be a last tour. BTK1609
Yeah same, I recently just got into them properly and if it is the last tour i'm really hoping to get tickets as the show they put on looks incredible!
thetime
I saw them back in 2000 at Reading and can confirm they do put on a hell of a show. Hopefully you are right that they are touring in December but wrong about it being their last one!
