Nimrod is the example you’re using for Green Day? Riiiiiight. 

Confirmed my official date for early retirement will definitely be 31/03/25 and put my last day in my outlook calendar for 28/03/25!😀 Was meant to be this year but due to changes in team and other people leaving I agreed to stay until end of financial year and see through a couple of programmes.   So currently planning a month in Australia after Easter next year 😀Life’s too short! To be fair nearly 40 years in local authority children’s services is enough for anyone so am very happy with my decision! 

Which breakthrough? Sempiternal? Or That’s The Spirit? amo, maybe? How about Survival Horror? Which one is it?    Again. THEY’VE JUST SOLD OUT THEIR BIGGEST EVER TOUR. Who does that by ‘losing the masses’? The masses are buying the tickets selling those shows out. 

Ezra Collective, ideally headlining somewhere rather than wasted in daylight Fat Freddy's Drop Massive Attack Michael Kiwanuka Laura Marling, ideally in daylight rather than wasting precious nighttime. Same for Beth Gibbons  Maribou State Beirut Wonder Stuff Galliano

Eminem has longevity. Ignoring Infinity EP. Album 1 got attention without being refined in 1999. Album 2 got mainstream hits in 2000. Album 3 became 'his sound' in 2002. Album 4 cemented that he could put anything out and get airplay, in 2004.   Same with Arctic Monkeys WPSIAMTWIN, kept it going with Humbug, AM. Greenday with Nimrod, kept it going with American Idiot.    An act that can break into the mainstream and then put out repeated albums that cement their place as a solid draw for commercial success.    BMTH got that breakthrough and dipped, losing all the goodwill theyd won from the masses.
