What time?

I just think people are a bit bored of this Arctic Monkeys. Loads of massive gigs and TV appearances later and people can't really be arsed watching Alex croon out these lyrics he used to spit out. I know crowds shouldn't be judged on broadcast footage but the crowd seemed really up for it at the weekend, better than the band deserved anyway.

Arctic Monkeys v5.0 should be post rock then nobody has to worry about his accent.

I just hate the change of image and style they've had. Like I get that bands need to evolve but they've completely changed and thus some of their older songs have suffered.

That said I do prefer AM to Suck it and See, Humbug and possibly even WPSIATWIN

Personally I think AM is overrated and gets the amount of praise it does based on the sheer amount of hype surrounding it. It has about four very good songs and the rest is average. NME called it the album of the decade when it wasn't even my top three of 2013. Right now they just seem to be the cool band to like, like Kings Of Leon were a few years ago.

I also agree about the image change. Yes, evolution hasn't harmed the likes of Radiohead, Blur or the Manics, but it's cringeworthy seeing Alex Turner act all Mr. Americana when he's from Sheffield.

For the record, I've touted AM as hot garbage since day 1.

Seems pretty dumb to tout a band as 'hot garbage' before you've heard much of their stuff.

I honestly think I only know about 5 Arctic Monkey songs, they've never been a band I've been bothered about trying to get into.

In my opinion arctics were the middle best. (I was absolutely destroyed during Calvin Harris and still hated it, rain didn't help either).

But yes, biffy did blow them out of the water. Biffys performance on the Friday was one of the best headline performances I've ever seen.

I forget if you did or not but were you at Reading or Leeds last year to compare the two headline performances? Rawr was at IOW this year and has told me that although they were great, it didn't beat Reading's headline performance. That shit was shear brilliance start to finish.

People's criticisms of Arctic Monkeys' stage personas are daft. They couldn't make the style of music they're making now and still act like they did back in 2006. They'd look even dumber. They've always changed their behavior on stage to reflect the music they were making - go back and watch some performances form the Humbug era and you'll see what I mean. They're making a style of music right now which needs a certain look to pull off.

This is not to say they haven't been half-assing it a little recently. Because they have.

Okay sure, the 'look' goes better with the music I suppose but every track that's not on AM sounds pretty bad now in comparison to how they've done it before. Some are even so forced it's painful. Alex has even said he'd prefer not to play songs like IBYLGOTDF which, lets face it, people want to hear live.

This is why people are upset/angry at them in the most part I feel. Personally, I don't really care for them anymore, they're fun live, nothing more though.

I don't understand how what they wear or how they gel their hair impacts the music at all. Alex's new style of singing doesn't work well with old tracks but that doesn't bother me either because their music struggles with longevity in my opinion. What bothers me is their dull and blatantly half arsed shows. They've played enough that they've condensed it down into one show repeated endlessly, why not add something to it?

As a live act AM are fairly forgettable; I saw them at Glasto, enjoyed it, felt like I never needed to see them again

I think the sets they play at festivals are boring. Surely they should play career spanning sets rather than 10 songs off the latest album. Also the songs should be changed quite often, because they've basically played the same set at every festival this year.

Save the 10 songs off the recent album for their own tours.
