mattgimmeshelter
Don't think the 1975 will sub next year, think they are taking a break next year and have a new album for 2016. They really should get a big slot in 2016, their set was mesmerising.
the wonderwhy
Yep - I was at the front but got tired of hardly anyone dancing and then my friend wanted to go see Klaxons so I just went to the edge for a smoke. Should of said hello! Ah I knew it was you. To be fair I was bloody desperate for the loo but yeah I should have had more faith in my recognition abilities and at least said hi

Andre91
I think The 1975 will sub next year. Their crowd was crazy big at Leeds and they put on a good show (the half hour I saw, anyway).
Rose-Colored Boy
Don't think the 1975 will sub next year, think they are taking a break next year and have a new album for 2016. T I presumed the Autumn tour was to test out new stuff, in other words they've been doing the next record on the road, in other words said next record is going to come out late Spring without them taking a break between now and then. And Matty has long said he started writing album two before album one was even out. although having said that I really think V will offer them big money next year so can see them missing R&L'15 anyhow. JSmurphy
Having seen The 1975 three times now, I can confidently say that their Reading set yesterday imo was by far the best show I've seen them put on. Would agree with Zac Quinn and say that V will be massively pushing to have them next year, meaning that hopefully with new material they could be a strong third / sub in 2016. I think given the choice they'd rather play R&L though. Matt Healey was going on about how much he loves leeds fest a lot during the set. I agree, he did the same speil at Reading, about how good it made them feel to go from not even being able to book a slot in 2012 to packing out the tent, but they can't play R&L every year.. Yellow_Fellow
gwarn then Gerard Way 3/5I dunno it was nice of him to rerelease Doolittle by Pixies and it was nicer of him to perform those tracks. Crossfaith 4/5I mean it was really manufactured and just a bit robotic but overall really fun I guess. Music wasn't all that. Blood Red Shoes 4/5They didn't really have much of a crowd but the performance was impassioned and cared for. Drenge 5/5"holy fucking shit is anyone not moshing right now also is that a dress" Orwells 3/5They're okay I guess? Not much to note. They just kinda did their thing. Not too offensive. Shikari 3/5Ordinarily I never leave Shikari wanting more, but this year I wanted them to come back and try again. Really disappointing. Vampire Weekend 4/5New tracks were lovely, old tracks were lovely, and so was my kebab. Paramore 5/5 QOTSA 5/5Joint favourite acts of Friday, Paramore covered all the bases with their setlist and brought a professional-as-fuck production that was fun. Even with the issues they remained GR8. QOTSA were QOTSA but the inclusion of Do It Again did me IN it was fantastic. Crowd was very good right up front too. DZ Deathrays 4/5I wasn't gonna say this was bad by any means. Fun set, fun crowd, dancing, but there wasn't really enough for me to be blown away by. Pulled Apart By Horses 4/5Good ass setlist, good ass performance, crap crowd. Would've loved them to be in the NME higher up instead. Marmozets 5/5Didn't expect to love them so much on the NME. So much in fact I prioritised their Pit show which they also fucking smashed. They're gonna go far with more performances like that. Royal Blood 4/5Whilst technically perfect, the setlist was kinda jarring and weird at times, and the crowd was absolute fucking garbage. Cage The Elephant 4/5CTE come to play rock music, CTE play music, is good Die Antwoord 5*/5IT WAS LIKE BEING IN THE 90S AT A RAVE. Best set of the day. Everyone I brought loved it. There is precedence now set for unusual acts at Reading. CHVRCHES 4/5Cute set from what I saw. Didn't go in the stage, just ate a 12" MEGA DOG outside. It was nice. Very nice Perfect sausage music. We Are Scientists 5/5We Are Scientists shit talked R&L at their recent Reading Sub89 show and now I understand why - that length of a set on that small of a stage is fucking stupid and they deserve way better. Band of Skulls 5/5if you book a headliner for a fucking stage make them run at the appropriate time FR you morons because they were much much better than Arctic Monkeys 2/5The new stuff sucked and the old stuff was played wrong and overall Alex Turner is a massive c**t so fuck off The Wytches 4/5Really glad the set was as good as it was, hopefully they play higher up next year. Would do well in the Pit actually. Romesh Raganathan 5/5hahaha you didn't go see him what's the fuckin point Jungle 3/5b o r i n g Baby Godzilla 5/5*Don't have to say anything do I? Best set of the day. Killed it. Frank Turner side stage was cute. Schoolboy Q 4/5 Klaxons 4/5 Dance Tent stopped this being a 5/5. Great show but ruined by MDMA addled bassheads. Mongol Horde 5/5 Real shame they're not doing anything after that 'cause it was fucking A. Frank Turner still an awesome frontman. Disclosure 5/5 Doo doo doo doo to perfection

Hart Attack
A frustrating and disappointing festival for me... I don't think I'm up to camping anymore, especially since I always end up drinking too much, staying up too late and generally feeling shit and having a hard time enjoying the bands. I really felt exhausted and ill for a large chunk of the festival. The riotous party atmosphere of the campsite used to be exciting and fun, but the novelty has really worn off for me now and it just feels tedious and arduous. I might enjoy it if I had friends to go with, but nobody ever wants to and going by myself is a lonely and isolating experience, especially since I'm a good six or seven years older than most other people there. The festival is only an hour or so away from home, so I'm thinking next time I might just skip camping and drive over there and back each day. That would also prevent my bad habit of getting too drunk for all the bands, which I find tends to cheapen the experience. I always used to say that the party aspect of festivals was half the fun for me and it wouldn't feel right to not throw myself into it all, but now I'm thinking I'd be better off just making it purely about the music. Another issue for me though was a real lack of personal excitement for a lot of the bands. While it looked like a great line-up for me on paper, I've already seen most of them several times already and it was difficult to really get all that hyped for bands when seeing them has become common routine rather than a rare treat. Maybe I ought to stop mindlessly attending shows every time a band I like tours, instead saving the experience for the next time they appear at a festival to help them feel special and exciting again. Gerard Way - Didn't really like his solo music, and was disappointed that he didn't play any My Chemical Romance songs after hinting in the Kerrang! preview that he would. The vocals just sounded like atonal wailing to me, very disappointing. 1/10 Crossfaith - Energetic live show, but all their songs sound the same to me. The only one that ever stands out to me is Omen, for obvious reasons. 5/10 Deaf Havana - Disappointing setlist that left out three of my favourites in The Past Six Years, Little White Lies and Everybody's Dancing. I found this quite mediocre, despite a decent crowd reaction. I did enjoy the atmospheric set-closer Caro Padre though. 4/10 Jimmy Eat World - Always seem to draw a very boring, low-energy crowd. Nobody was singing or jumping around for most of the set, and it really killed the mood. I'd had a few drinks though and by Big Casino I just decided to go crazy on my own, even if nobody else was. Things did liven up a bit for Sweetness though, and then even more so for The Middle. 7/10 Enter Shikari - Wandered around the arena as they played in the background... I've come to the conclusion that I don't really like these guys as much as I used to think I did, their style just doesn't really do anything for me these days. Their first album was good, but I'm not a fan of the dance and electronic elements that have become more prominent in their later material. NR Jimmy Eat World - I only stayed until Work because it one of my favourites but I had to leave for Paramore, but this looked much better than their main stage appearance. Wish I could have stayed for the rest of it! NR Paramore - The first half was amazing but then the sound issues ruined it for me. The band handled it very well though I thought; the singalong for The Only Exception was actually a very unique and beautiful moment, and had the problem been resolved after this then it would have been fine. Sadly the sound was never really fixed properly and was much too quiet for the rest of the show. It sounded like I was listening from my tent over in the campsite, and the previously enthusiastic crowd around me just completely died. I had such high hopes, but this really let down what could and should have been a special occasion for me. I liked the stage setup though, clearly they've really grown into their shoes as a big-time band over the last few years and stepped up their from the simple backdrops we saw the last few times they played. I thought the setlist was a bit weird though, not sure why they included Proof and Last Hope from their self-titled album yet omitted hit singles Now and Daydreaming, and Ain't It Fun, while definitely having a place in the show, felt like an awkward choice to close with over Misery Business or Still Into You (although that worked brilliantly as an opener). 7/10 Queens Of The Stone Age - No technical problems here, this was a real powerhouse performance and definitely won the battle of the co-headliners for me. I got all the songs I wanted to hear, had a great time throughout the whole show, and thankfully managed to avoid dislocating my elbow from punching the air so hard during Burn The Witch. 9/10 Lower Than Atlantis - Only caught the last few songs, but wasn't overly impressed. They're one of those bands that I should like in theory, yet always strike me as pretty generic and forgettable. NR The Hives - Very entertaining, totally lived up to their great reputation for awesome live shows. 8/10 Don Broco - Starting to get quite samey and wearing a bit thin to me now, this was okay but nothing special. 5/10 Imagine Dragons - Only saw the second half or so, not quite enough for a rating. I wish I'd seen the whole thing though because they looked amazingly good, and I'm definitely going to be listening to more of them now. Radioactive in particular was epic, and one of the highlights of the whole festival for me. NR Arctic Monkeys - Tagged along with the guys camped next to me, but left within fifteen or twenty minutes. Never been a fan of these guys or their style of music to be fair, so I was never going to enjoy seeing them. NR The Story So Far - Seemed decent-ish I guess, but failed to really draw me in or make me care. 4/10 Tonight Alive - Decent performance, but might have been better in a tent later in the day. Probably thrust onto the main stage a bit too soon. 6/10 Young Guns - I'd overlooked these guys beforehand since I was so much more excited about other bands that day, and in fact almost skipped seeing them to go get food and rest, but I'm glad I stayed because they were pretty damn good. I love their style, very atmospheric and ethereal, and I think they have the potential to become much bigger if they can build some momentum with their upcoming album. 8/10 Papa Roach - I was pleasantly surprised to see the crowd going crazy for the whole show, rather than remaining motionless until Last Resort. I was really expecting another Jimmy Eat World situation, but this turned out to be very fun and energetic. 8/10 Sleeping With Sirens - This band seem to have built a strong core fanbase but haven't yet permeated the masses and gained casual fans as well, and the result was a thin, uninterested audience. Again, would probably have done better on a smaller stage, I did my best to make a good time of it anyway, but the only others I saw doing so were a trio of teenage girls. 6/10 A Day To Remember - A strong showing and a great atmosphere, although it didn't live up to their amazing 'house party' show at Alexandra Palace earlier this year. 8/10 You Me At Six - Too many new songs, and I was feeling very tired by this point in the day so I had a bit of a hard time getting into it. 6/10 Blink-182 - I probably would have enjoyed this more if I'd saved the experience for the festival, feels like I 'read spoilers' by going to both Brixton shows at the start of the month as it was basically the exact same show. It was still really fun, but just didn't feel special. Also the crowd started out very enthusiastic, but for some reason seemed to lose their energy as the show went on. By the encore I seemed to be the only person around still jumping and singing along. I think Blink would've been better as a Friday night headliner; they're a fun party-starting band, but don't suit the epic grand finale role of closing the festival like Biffy Clyro or Foo Fighters did in the last few years. 8/
