Gucci Piggy
Also having just watched QOTSA and seen all my friend's reactions once they've got home, I really fucking wish I'd been there. Might see if I can save enough of my loans next year to do Glastonbury and Leeds (assuming my friends are all going to Leeds again). Hopefully something that won't attract a bunch of c**ts. Some of Muse/RHCP/Foos/Metallica would make me happy.

Gucci Piggy
Who are you hoping for? There are many that could. A lot have already announced in the past few weeks though. No idea really. There's a few of the smaller acts I'd see if they play locally - Royal Blood, Blood Red Shoes, DZ Deathrays (actually they're touring like now aren't they?), for example. Gucci Piggy
The dates are rubbish but there's one in Newcastle, where you'll be (?) Are they supporting Band of Skulls? Didn't know this was happening but yeah that sounds sick actually. I'd also like PABH, Dry the River and Klaxons from the lineup.
#FreeComTruise
Dunno I just went on their tour dates on their site, it says with Band of Skulls though so perhaps, PABH have dates already too don't they?

DaveElNino
So, while my front room smells of Reading as my tent dries, quick review/rating of bands that I saw: Gerard Way (R1/NME) - 6/10 - I liked the music enough to listen to the album when it's released, but with a set full of new stuff the tent lacked atmosphere. There also wasn't a "performance" to counter the unfamiliarity. Without the name value he'd have been just another name on the BBC Introducing stage. La DIspute (R1/NME) - 5/10 - Not bad, but the sound was a bit off and I was expecting more based on what my friends who had previously seen them had said. Again unfamiliarity with it didn't help Jimmy Eat World (Main) - 6/10 - Great songs, but such a vanilla performance. I'm sure it was more fun right in the middle, but it lacked a lot watching from distance Enter Shikari (Main) - 6.5/10 - Didn't seem as good as what I've heard of previous years, and my previous times seeing them, but a substandard Shikari set is still pretty decent. Jamie T - (FR) - 8/10 - Excellent atmosphere, new stuff sounded great and the singalongs to the big hits were great fun. Glad I skipped out on the end of Vampire Weekend to see him. Queens of the Stone Age (Main) - 9/10 - One of the few sets of the weekend where I left really wanting more. They deserve a full headline slot, but they need another high profile album to bring in the numbers as it was a reasonably small crowd (obviously not helped by Paramore fans leaving) Also saw part sets on Friday by: Dave Hause (great fun which I'd have watched if I knew more) Drenge (saw the first half and was impressed but remembered that it takes me about that long to lose interest so happily left) Vampire Weekend (fun when the sun was out) Paramore (nowhere near as fun as when I saw them at Wembley) X Ambassadors (FR) - 4.5/10 - Late on due to technical problems which meant a short set. Weren't as good as I'd hoped, though Jungle was quite cool. The Hell (Pit) - 7/10 - A loud shock to the system. Knew how to work the crowd even though their songs seemed rough around the edges. Mø (Dance) - 7/10 - A good performance and the atmosphere in there even at 1.30 in the afternoon seemed great. I'd love to have spent more time in the dance tent, but only if I had a group of mates. Royal Blood (R1/NME) - 7.5/10 - I watched from towards the edge and they sounded great. When they inevitably play a bigger slot next year I'll happily go and see them as a whole tent / front section of field able to go word for word would be fantastic. The Hives (Main) - 8.5/10 - Fun fun fun, though I can see that Pelle's antics would be very annoying if you weren't into it. Chvrches (R1/NME) - 9/10 - Another highlight of the weekend. A really good atmosphere in the tent (except for the pit that started up in one of the songs) and they really worked at that time. Made me really regret not seeing them earlier in their career. Arctic Monkeys (Main) - 8.5/10 - I'm not sure how good the performance was, but dancing and singing with my friends for songs I've spent the last nine years with is still one of the best ways to end a night. Also saw part sets on Saturday by: Gnarwolves (seemed to have the main stage in their hands) Pulled Apart by Horses (typically great show) Rob Beckett (entertaining set that had a decent amount of festival related jokes - though when most of the tent seemed to cheer when he asked if they were under 18 I did feel a bit old) We Are Scientists (only saw The Great Escape and it was one of the happiest singalongs of the festival) Blacklist Royals (Lock-Up) - 8.5/10 - A great set of Gaslight Anthem style blue collar punk rock that was sadly poorly attended (I walked straight to the barrier 2 minutes before stage time) Pup (Lock-Up) - 9/10 - Brilliant fun with a band who were clearly so happy to be there. Their album's one of my favourites of the year so far and it's even better live. Masked Intruder (Lock-Up) - 5.5/10 - Not good, not bad, they just kind of happened, though I think if I had prooperly watched them I'd have enjoyed it a lot more. Baby Godzilla (Lock-Up) - 8/10 - Musically I'm uncertain on them, but their entertainment value as a live act is up there with the very best. Pure carnage (in a very good way) A WIlhelm Scream (Lock-Up) - 6.5/10 - Not bad, but not something I'd choose to go and listen to. Blink-182 (Main) - 8.5/10 - Sounded dreadful at points, but after a day of bands I didn't know there really was no better way to finish than singing along to songs I've know for what feels like forever Also saw part sets on Sunday by: Papa Roach (saw the three songs I knew, and they seemed to be doing a really good job of working the crowd) The Flatliners (unmemorable) The Wonder Years (seemed like a lot of fun, but I was flagging by that point) Mayday Parade (again seemed quite fun) Generally a good festival, but not a great one for my musical tastes. I was spoiled in that respect though by seeing 3 of my all time top 5 at Primavera earlier in the year. I'll be back next year for my 13th consecutive festival formerly known as the Carling Weekend as it was still a lot of fun. I definitely felt old this year though (although I also felt old in 2006), and the idea of staying in a hotel appeals even more. That said where I was camped in green was pretty calm - much calmer than it was back in 07 to 09. EDIT: Bloody hell, I wrote a lot. The tl;dr version - best acts were QoTSA, Pup, Chvrches, Blacklist Royals, blink-182, Arctic Monkeys, The Hives, Jamie T and Baby Godzilla. dentalplan
That was a nice read. Didn't dawn on me how many instant fun acts were present like WAS and The Hives and seemingly Baby Godzilla. The Hives are a good weapon for festivals to pull out every couple of years.
