justanothername
Also Rob for Pulled Apart By Horses is in hospital and I think he even fell ill on site at Leeds. Was gutted when I heard that were forced to pull out
kemosabe
my mate went to see greyworm and he apparently was really really good! As to answer the question about when the dicks were around... It was all weekend.
Gucci Piggy
Ooh thanks guys. Klaxons and PABH dates aren't good for me but BOS/DZ and Dry the River looking good. And hopefully the DZ tour announcement is nice.
VCK
I've not been to Leeds for a few years but when I used to go there was still quite an array of dickheads. I can't say if it has become much worse or not because of the fact I've not been for a while, but like someone said, I think it's a case of rose tinted specs. Leeds has always had a pretty hostile vibe as a festival. Remember that the reason it's at Bramham Park in the first place is because the rioting got so bad at Temple Newsam they had to move the damn thing! And this was over ten years ago as well. That is not to excuse some of the stories I've read in this thread and elsewhere though. It just sounds like a bunch of bellends trying to get a mention on the LADbible. justanothername
DZ Deathrays aren't supporting Band Of Skulls in Sheffield I did see Gnarwolves over them (don't regret it as they were my favourite band that day) but it be nice to have a Sheffield date announced today. Also on the topic of Gnarwolves I'd love to see them announce a UK tour very soon, especially with the album coming out soon

Yeah, I was talking to one of the steward supervisors yesterday and he was talking about traders getting their vans trashed, fire towers being pushed over, every toilet on site being on fire, etc, back in those days at Leeds. Insanity. I actually didn't really see any campsite douchebaggery, despite doing a 1am - 9am volunteer shift in Green on Saturday. Just bunches of people sitting around campfires chatting, some really wasted people that needed help, basically uneventful. Rest of the time I was in staff camping so obviously tame as fuck. Still, that obviously wasn't the case for a lot of people and it really does suck that the festival does seem like a bit of a magnet for twats. Everyone going nuts all the time does make for a fantastic atmosphere for bands when you're also into it...but on the other hand, it can get a bit wearying when the song is massively inappropriate for moshing and you've already been in twelve in the last 10 minutes. It often seems to be for the sake of it, because it's what you're 'supposed' to do at Reading, rather than because you can't resist losing yourself to a particular song. I must be getting old
DaveElNino
Yeah, I was talking to one of the steward supervisors yesterday and he was talking about traders getting their vans trashed, fire towers being pushed over, every toilet on site being on fire, etc, back in those days at Leeds. Insanity. I remember in 2005 one of the trader vans in the campsite at Leeds actually being destroyed. In 2007 at Reading the campsites were horrible on the Sunday. There was a thick layer of smoke around the site from people burning tents and exploding gas canisters (to the point where I went outside the site to sit by the Thames for an hour or so (admittedly with a girl). The toilets would also regularly get trashed with their doors being pulled off. It's definitely a lot safer in that respect on the Sunday (I went to bed shortly after Blink as my stepsister went home with her boyfriend earlier in the day) but had absolutely no worries about making it through the night - which would not have been the case between 2007 and 2010. Out of all the bands that announced tours after R&L I got Courteeners, Annie Mac and The Kooks. There is Gogol Bordello but I don't listen to them and both the O2 Academy and Leadmill think they're playing their venues on the same night I would go and see Mallory Knox as I don't mind them but they were boring when I saw them support ADTR but Frank Iero support may tempt me if it is not too expensive as I prefer his solo stuff to Gerard Way Still holding out hope for Gnarwolves and a Royal Blood Sheffield dates soon though
justanothername
Might hit up Leeds seeing as it's before I move. I do that but the last train out to Sheffield that day is at 23:05 so it be very close and would mean missing a bit of the set, then I'd have to get a taxi from Sheffield to Rotherham which would be quite expensive for me so I'm going to have to pass unless someone came with me EDIT: Anyway I'm not that fussed as Honeyblood are playing in Sheffield for free the night before Edited August 26, 2014 by justanothername

sjseabass
What size venues do we think we're looking at for Royal Blood when they eventually announce? Big academies? Portsmouth Guildhall would be cool for me.

I really wanted to go and see an Blackend Sky and Puzzle setlist but me and my mate said she'd go with me to Glasgow but she didn't show much interest after that. DaveElNino
I'd have thought they'd do big academies - though they might do the smaller of two bigger venues if they've got choices (ie Roundhouse over Brixton, Manchester Academy over Apollo) to ensure that they sell them out. Also when I found out about the Pre Sale I was on my way back from France and general sale would have been a nightmare Vertigo of Bliss/OR, on a Saturday so I don't miss college and VoB is my favourite album, good pairing I didn't bother asking anyone cause I was awake when they announced them, like 20 minutes before they went on sale, just went ahead and bought one, so now I'm going alone of course Nottingham Rock City for Royal Blood is nailed on I reckon (hope) They're bound to do one of Sheff/Notts surely, either will do me I think, Sheff's easier but Rock City's definitely the better venue

I agree but probably not to ensure a sell out; moreso to maintain the raucous live atmosphere that'd diminish in bigger venues.
justanothername
Go and see Gogol Bordello you seriously wont regret it Nottingham Rock City for Royal Blood is nailed on I reckon (hope) I'll go and check them out and see how much money I have left once I purchased tickets for Lonely The Brave, Feed The Rhino w/ Baby Godzilla and Hacktivist and see what dates Gnarwolves and Royal Blood have May go and see Twin Atlantic, Amazing Snakeheads, Band of Skulls and Catfish & The Bottlemen too
