Lineup 2014

Recommended Posts

Just heard the four tracks streaming on paramores site from the new album. I'm actually really impressed, always been a fan but was unsure after not being blown away by the latest singles.

My prediction:

Arctic monkeys

QOTSA

Vampire weekend

Paramore

30stm

You me at six

Blur

The vaccines

Dizzee rascal

If Blur wanted to play R&L they would have done it this year considering it fits perfectly into their touring schedule. So unless they're planning on releasing a new album out of the blue Bowie style I don't see any reason to suggest they'll still be around next year for R&L.

It's already been said, but the fact they are from the UK means they will 'be around' they'd hardly have to go out of their way to play, and they've still missed out the UK, because they're only playing Ireland. They're the most likely suggestion we have at the moment bar Paramore and Arctics

I'm still thinking mumfords, arctics, and metallica. lots of indie/pop undercard for the arctics day, the more experimental mainstream for the mumford day, and heavier stuff the metallica day. Booooom.

I also reckon the NME tent will be less rap/dance/pop next year

Edit, actually to go abit further.....

Mumford and Sons

The XX

Bloc Party

Gaslight Anthem

Of Monsters And Men

Arctic Monkeys

Paramore

Dizzee Rascal

Jake Bugg

The Hives

Metallica

Queens Of The Stone Age

Avenged Sevenfold

Enter Shikari

Feeder

haha yep. i decided to go with my stranger things have happened theory. I mean how much sense was there when paramore went into the cure?

That seems more normal to me, because for one they're huge fans of The Cure aren't they? And it's a current popular band, going into a legend status band.

Whereas Paramore into Arctics idk, it would work if they're the same style/fan base, but they're both potential headliners, with current popular status, and I can't word this well because it's 3am but I know what I mean

I get what you are saying, but im gonna stick! Of course, the parasecondstoyoumeatsix combo is probably just as likely, but no one wants to think of that

They've missed the UK out because they already played a massive show last year, some people seem to forget that. Damon Albarn is not the sort of guy who sticks to one thing constantly, he's always looking for new ways to push himself & make new music. I don't see them playing another greatest hits set just to cash in, especially as they'll have done European festivals for the past two summers . So no, they're not the most likely, it's just wishful thinking. If they drop a new album & continue as a band I'll consider them, otherwise they're just as unlikely as the next candidate.

I was thinking that they might want to celebrate Parklife's 20th anniversary over in the UK. And they said they are a fan of doing one of shows in order to make them feel more special? Would certainly be very special and be a massive ticket shifter having Blur play Parklife in its entirety Edited by Spud001

Just listened to the four songs Paramore have got streaming on their website and I think this album will sell really well. Personally, I don't like what I've heard so far, apart from 'Daydreaming' which I think is a great track. I reckon the new songs will get lots of radio play which will only increase their popularity, so I think they have a big chance of headlining next year. They would still be a weak headliner, but if they were alongside Arctic Monkeys and say Metallica or Blur, that would be a strong set of headliners and a set that is plausible at this moment in time.

Didn't know they'd played a show, and in that case he should bring back Gorillaz

Imo I don't think Gorillaz will be upto much for a bit as Damon and the guy (can't remember his name but he created Tank Girl) he created them with have had a falling out so they would have to sort that out 1st and then get to work on new material (as I can't see them touring without new stuff) and I can't see that being done in time for 2014.

I've highlighted two that I think will probably not happen.

Arctic Monkeys will be reading exclusives next year, every festival has had them in a time gap shorter than their last reading appearance. It will be an exclusive, I don't know it just seems like it's pointing towards it.

If Arctic Monkeys play R&L they'll be booked as an exclusive within England. They won't be ruled out of T. It'll be

3 years since the headlined T, T booked Kasabian last year and it was 2 years since their last performance.

I heard they'd patched things up. Was just a punt anyway, think they'd be a good headliner for Bestival but perhaps not yet.

Neil Young and Blink-182 are also just punts (my alternative to hunches) based on who might be around, what they book, etc. Bestival will need someone in a legend slot and not so sure about how Blink would go down at Download but their pool for next year is quite small so it could happen.

Arctic Monkeys won't be a Reading and Leeds exclusive. I'd bank on that right now. Considering the likes of IOW, T, V and R+L will all want a piece of a band with new material and what will be (according to the press, rather than the fans) an emphatic Glasto performance.
