I still have no idea who the third headliner is at Soni though. Or who the reunion act is at Download, although I'd hazard a guess at Pantera at Download and Bullet at Soni.

The reasoning is I know Andy has been asked a lot about Pantera in recent years and recently Zack Wilde said he was up for doing it in 2014 and Down are touring later into the year so makes it seem viable.

Bullet im guessing as I doubt Soni won't have much wonga left after Metallica and Maiden, and then they would be the first to push Bullet to main stage headliner much like they did with Biffy, Bullet have two arena tours under their belts and Bullet also would appeal to a younger fanbase AND they won't be back at Download next year so they wouldn't have had a bidding war for them so cheaper booking. Just seems too much going for it and not enough against it, only thing I can see against it, is if Bullet have been offered sub at Reading. As that may win them new fans and may have been a higher financial offer too. Bullet to sub Blink? Would fit... Just thinking aloud.

This is just my ramblings. MY ramblings.

Yeah, I've compared Blink's size to a subbing band SOAD who I like. I think in terms of appeal, suitability and pulling power they're comparable except for Blink's more recent headline slot.

Extra material since last playing? Arena tour since last playing? Arena tour before they left for hiatus. Blink were/are way bigger than SOAD and more compatible to arcade fire in terms of size than SOAD.

The major reason I suggested SOAD could headline last year's was there length of time / minimal shows since their hiatus.

Blink however are a notch above and with the ability to attract more casual fans due to their bigger hits.

Good reasonings.

Don't suppose your source has any ability to get Bestival or Latitude info though do they? :P

You're probably closer with Bullet but Sabbath are going to be announced for Hellfest tomorrow (well, today...) which is a week or two before I think? Might be something in that, although it would be an expensive trio.

Could be worth checking out :P

EDIT: Thinking about it, wouldn't it be odd if Sabbath did fests in France (and potentially the rest of Europe) but not the UK? Could Glasto get away with booking them?

Different types of bands with different circumstances though. I get what the difference is between Blink and SOAD (although I'd say in terms of nostalgia reunion acts more shows decreases pulling power). Their last album didn't even register to me as existing so I'm presuming the new one has got a lot of press power behind it to refocus people onto Blink by the time their headline set comes round. I'm not saying they won't be headline size by then, but my arguments against them headlining weren't just founded off personal preference which is what you initially accused me of.

Reconsidering that QOTSA and Paramore were the surley the next up-and-comings Reading had to deal with it, I actually think this 'co-headliner' thing is a good move. At least we have to get 2 decent up-and-comings every year. Actually, next year would be perfect too only if Blink-182 were not booked.

Not the way it works. Co-headliners won't happen every year or according to any pattern apart from who they think is suitable to book for that specific year.
