kaosmark2
Gang of Four Never been able to get into Sonic Youth. Might give them another go at some point soon. What have you given a go so far? I'd say Goo is their most accessible great album. Daydream Nation gets a bit more critical acclaim and is similarly accessible but I narrowly prefer Goo. Sister's my personal favourite but I wouldn't recommend it as a 1st one.

That's what the 'name dropping unlikely bands' thing for the past few pages stemmed from. It won't happen unfortunately. Deffo gonna be at Bestival or Latitude I'd be astonished if they're at any UK festival.

Just a few songs on YouTube. I normally do that, and if I like what I hear I listen to full albums, but I just didn't like them. I'll have a listen to a couple of those albums, as I am firmly a full album kind of guy (only ever listen to full albums). I was surprised that I didn't like them, as they seem like my kind if thing. kaosmark2
Sister's my favourite too. It's such a cracker. At the Daydream Nation gig I went to they came on for an encore and started with Schizophrenia. Brilliant stuff. They played such a great album in full but opening with that for the encore made my night.

Their newer stuff is quite meandering and aimless. I still like it, but it sounds more like Stephen Malkmus' solo stuff than their earlier work. Fun levels of distortion but lacks the punch of their first 7/8 albums. You can hear how they evolved (could afford more weed) over the course of their back catalogue. the wonderwhy
Talking of EOTR... Does anyone know how I can get in to that for free, with minimal effort, and without breaking too many laws? dentalplan
What about EotR? I thought about that after I hit submit. I guess I'm just expecting it to be like Jeff Mangum's solo shows; mostly American shows then a few shows scattered across Europe, maybe an ATP/Don't Look Back show. kaosmark2
Lucky. I never got to see them. I managed twice. Daydream Nation in '07 and the MBV ATP in '09. Amazing first time, pretty good 2nd time but the set was very Eternal heavy.

Just the Camber Sands weekends I believe, which I'm sort of thankful for - too high a price really for what you get. They could do a day fest thing, or a weekend at a new venue, or a large Don't Look Back gig, I wish the last ones weren't the ones they are, really don't like Marquee Moon. Oh ok, I'd only skimmed the news, that's not quite so bad. I did one at Butlins back in December '09, the MBV curated one. Absolutely loved it, but May ones are in the middle of exam period for me now I've gone back to uni, and the December ones have rarely had a good enough lineup to convince me to drag a mate along. There's usually only about a dozen acts I know well enough that I'd consider seeing at their own gig, so it's pretty hard to get others to go. Well, if its just Camber Sands they may well continue with the IBYM events at Ally Pally which I've quite enjoyed. Agree about wishing they had other acts on for the final ones though, I do like Marquee Moon, and add in Dino Jr, Mum and a last chance and I want to do it, but I'm still a bit on the edge about it. They'll probably sell out of 2-bed bunks before I can persuade someone to go though.
Chinaski_
I'm not a fan of Television, but there's some great bands on the line up. I'd like to go as I've never been to one before, we'll see who else is announced for it.

I love the line-up. Can't believe R&L have passed up the opportunity to have a load of those acts.
