As of October-ish time The Strokes had zero plans to tour or even record with each other (hence why there are a bunch of solo dates being announced)

That e-mail was odd though...

It's unlikely but they would make an excellent Libertines-esque sub under Arctics

It would also be funny to laugh at all the people exclaiming "THE STROKES WOULD NEVER SUB ARCTICS" when that fake AM tour poster went around.

True, but Nine Inch Nails also said (or suggested, can't remember if they said it outright) they weren't releasing a new album. Could want to save the surprise. Also, as I said, they may not have planned to play live, but huge offers may change their minds.

I'm not saying they will definitely return live next year, I'm just making a prediction, as we usually get one or two unexpected subs.

They have said they will record a new album somewhere, so no surprise needed.

But yes you're right, money talks. However, if people are dismissing mumfords then there's no reason to not dismiss pendulum. I'd want it to happen and it will one day, but I don't think next year. Hope I'm wrong though!

They wouldn't sub. Especially not three years after headlining. They wouldn't make a good special guest booking. They saved indie/all music. They wouldn't sub.

I didn't mean a surprise album, I meant surprise live dates. I just used the NIN album as an example of a surprise.

No I would've thought they'd probably just about pull off headlining still, which is why I said it was unlikely. Although I would've said exactly the same about Libs to be honest...

I suppose, I still forget Libertines didn't headline.

If you look in the Other festivals section, there's been a post pointing towards The Strokes playing BST Hyde Park next summer.

Does anyone know what happens if you're working on site. My parents have been given an offer to do a food stall at reading and I was thinking of getting in with them for free

I worked on the supermarket a few years ago. Yeah they just give you a different band and you walk free as a bird!

I'll take an extra one if you want.

I honestly think Kaiser Chiefs deserve a sub slot. It's a shame they'll probably not ever be big enough to do so again. I think they've got a great live energy and are definitely underrated as a live band in my opinion

dont think they are underrated as a live band just not really relevant any more. Otherwise on that logic I would have Feeder sub every time!

Doesn't matter how good a band are live for them to sub. They have to be big enough to do and Kaiser Chiefs are that big. Unless there new album makes them massive and R&L bookers can see into the future to know that this will happen as the new album comes out late March
