That's the thing in the end too. You can lock them in, free of hassle, at a relative budget. The festival is already sold out. Any adverse effect you'd fear on sales would be completely negated by the fallow year - demand will be pent up after a year off again.
Pyramid:
Bruno Mars / David Guetta
Sabrina Carpenter / Calvin Harris
Drake / Justin Bieber
Other Stage:
Swedish House Mafia / Katy Perry
Sam Smith / Chainsmokers
Raye / Olly Alexander
Park:
Catfish and the Bottlemen / Mumford & Sons
Bastille / Yungblud
Stereophonics / James Bay
All three are massive commercially friendly acts with tons of bangers who have played the fest before to huge crowds. Nothing like SZA. With the possible exception of Sam’s health concerns they’d also all represent reliable bookings willing to commit this side of Christmas, which would probably be a relief to GFL after last year’s chaos.
Sure they’d love to get a huge name like Stevie or Madge but they can’t force them to play at gunpoint.
