Lineup 2014

Well I doubt they'd make Dizzee & the Arctics clash anyway, considering they're likely to have a lot of cross over fans. If those were the headliners, they'd be much more likley to clash Arctic Monekys with You Me At Six. Dizzee with Metallica & Babyshambles with Prodigy.

I don't think they'd not make them clash tbh, in fact they'd probably do it just to try and split the crowd a bit.

I think Ben Howard is too big to sub NME, All Time Low and The Gaslight Anthem too small to play 4th, Dizzee Rascal too big to headline NME and Billy Talent far too small to sub NME. Plus I don't think Shikari are big enough to play 3rd yet, but if they gave Deftones the push then maybe. I think Babyshambles is a bit of a poor NME headliner too but I guess we'll see depending on how their tour sells.

I'd probably get a day ticket for the Friday because I still desperately need to see The Prodigy.

Yeah maybe Ben Howard headlines and baby shambles go away haha.

I wouldn't be surprised by all time low and gaslight playing 4th at all, especially if they have new material by then which is likely. I might have done before but the lumineers and frank turner playing 4th would have been laughed at before. They are giving bands they like opportunities clearly, and I think all time low and gaslight fit the reading crowd perfectly.

Billy talent subbing may be too strong though I agree, just thinking of a heavier undercard for you me at six. And Dizzee, yeah I agree, but I can't see him subbing under any headliners next year in my mind. Could do arctics but glasto have done that this year and I think the vaccines will bag that. Also, if he's up against a strong headliner, I think it's possible. He isn't as big as before is he? Bass junkie did crap in the charts I thought

I think Babyshambles is selling well, I've only looked at Leadmill but ticketmaster says they're sold out.

Was considering going, but £25 inc booking was a pretty hefty price for them. Sure it's Pete Doherty, but it isn't The Libertines, and they aren't that big outside of Libs fans. Miles Kane was only £15, so was Foals. Not to mention there's a high chance of Pete cancelling, and the ticket insurance didn't cover that..

I think they could sub NME, definitely aren't the size of Skrillex or Phoenix, and alt-J are probably more popular than they are currently as well. And that's based on this years really weak NME. Really can't see it/don't want to see it get weaker.

Mumford & Sons (Paramore or daft punk)

I dont see how daft punk would fit into R&L. Alot of people slay of dance music so why have a big dance/electro headliner?

Similar thing with Mumford and Sons, people say they are boring so why want them to headline?

Utter bullocks. In what sense? They've not dropped in popularity at all.

No it's nothing to do with popularity, I just don't think they could actually headline reading and leeds and get the attention that a headliner would need.

Personally a sub for them, would work so so well.

If you want to put You Me at Six on before Slayer that's fine by me.

Enter Shikari won't sub; nowhere near popular enough.

The Prodigy are as popular as they ever have been.

Kraftwerk would never play Reading.

And you have Bastille playing twice.

Not gonna happen; sorry.

EDIT: Sorry if that came across as harsh I didn't mean to; it is just really bad.

Because Daft Punk are fucking awesome

Because everyone has succumb to the fact that Mumford & Sons will indeed headliner one day

Off the back of a new album they could headline easily. They sold out the MK bowl, they've headlined Reading before, headlined Download... I don't see why people doubt them.

People don't slag off dance music. They slag off the dance music they've booked this year because it's shite. Whereas Daft Punk are great.

I think people put them down as sub as when the new album comes out they'll play literally everywhere, so people think that the only way they'll play is if they sub.

However seeing as the rulebook for headliners has changed this year with Green Day who says that next year Reading will go for exclusive headliners? Maybe they could book The Prodigy with an exclusive sub? (Kanye West...? *cue laughter and derision*)

The Prodigy headlining Reading before really doesn't mean anything. It was a pretty different festival when they headlined & the last time they played, they subbed.

The argument for them headlining is based on Download (& Creamfields) and selling out MK Bowl.

I've put them subbing because I reckon it would make the QOTSA booking look stronger, and we've got pretty strong subs this year (something which will hopefully continue). I reckon they could headline, but I hope they don't. (EDIT: Oh yeah, and the fact they'll most likely whore themselves out next year)

Kanye West isn't subbing R&L to the Prodigy, not in a million month of Sunday's.
