Wakin On A Pretty Daze?

I missed that & only started listening to it the other day (first time I've ever really listened to him to be honest). Its pretty good, yeah.

Yeah I got it downloaded a few months ago and only pushed myself to listen to it the other day when I watched a video on NME of artists saying their favourite albums of 2013 and a fair few mentioned that one. I thought you must have missed it if you were putting crap like Daughter and Foals in. :P

Don't get it in any context. Is he suggesting I think arcade fire are a bad glasto booking?

That's because you don't deserve context.

Edit: Damn your quick edit. No he's not, he's being sarcastic about people saying that.

It was a direct quote from someone in twitter in fact. Someone who then went on to say that I have no taste in music because I don't like Linkin Park. Lol.

I like them and looked forward to that album but it was pants and you know it.

I don't dislike Foals either, just their album was fairly disappointing as well,

It wasn't brilliant, pants is a bit far but yeah, I was heavily disappointed.

I enjoyed Holy Fire a bit more than Total Life Forever, but they'll always be a pub band to me :P

Have you throatpunched them yet?

I wish

"your music taste is shit, Linkin park ARE better than AF so?"

"it is SO obvious you have no taste in music, so I'm not even offended, arcade fire will still be awful so"

"you are mad, they are all better than arcade fire, which isn't difficult" (referring to DLs headliners)

"you are worse than an online troll, Linkin park are good, but you like arcade fire, so your opinion on good music is invalid"

"you are quite clearly both faggots, you can't win an argument if your side is arcade fire"

"they are hardly shite if you've admitted all are bigger, they sell out everywhere an have bigger fan bases, not shite!" (on Linkin Park)

The sad thing is he was entirely, ENTIRELY, serious.

Oh I see! I was confused as to where all those opinions came from. Needless to say I think no festival so far has done an amazing job, but of course that's only going by initial announcements. Sonis good for me so far but it's hardly like they've done any work for those headliners

I really don't get why people can't accept people have different music tastes. Of course you can voice those tastes but to get so wound up about it is silly. Unless they headline your festival and ARE shit, like blink ;)

Really? I thought TLF was outstanding. And when I learned that Alan Moulder and Flood were producing a Foals record I was all over it and thought it couldn't possibly let me down, so yeah I had high expectations and I didn't think Holy Fire met them.

Because I get saddened that we live in a world where bland autotuned songs with uninspired lyrics about sex are hugely popular.

There's different tastes, and there's buying into the marketing. Despite their "alternative" label, nu-metal and pop-punk are just as manufactured as the likes of Rihanna and Justin Timberlake. They're focused on exploiting specific teenage attitudes and ideas, feigning meaning to emphasise their image as "rebels" when they're completely ingrained in the mainstream system. It's not just "as bad", it's worse, because they're hypocritically exploiting the pretence at being something else, and even when people mature and their tastes maybe develop, they're exploited again by the nostalgia element.

It's all incredibly cynical and manipulative, and IMO music should be for either the joy of it or to create something meaningful, not a cash cow.

Edit: I'm sorry, I've gone on a rant about pop-punk AGAIN. I swear I'm trying to cut down on this!

Yeah. I haven't listened to either that much, I'm not that big a Foals fan, but it just seemed a bit more mature and balanced the couple of times I heard it.
