I have to say, even if i'm mentioning THEM

I can actually see reading throwing balls loads of money at daft punk and booking them as a type of "eminem act" next year.

Now that's if daft punk tour.

And i'm not comparing them to eminem i'm just saying it would be a big mainstream headliner, which I think is what reading went for this year, and what they want to stick to in later coming years.

Agree with this. As I said I preferred it to My God Is The Sun. Had them both on repeat throughout the day.

My God is the Sun just seemed like a pretty good track. I Appear Missing has the most variation in style in a QOTSA song since Go With the Flow. It's pace-changes are incredibly slickly done.

The one thing that is making me think Daft Punk won't be booked is that their set up might be too intricate to cart up from Reading to Leeds over the course of two days.

If that isn't a problem though then FR should throw every penny at them to get them to play.

Difference being, in recent years T in the Park & V Festival had already had Eminem, so the demand/competition when R&L booked him wasn't there as much.

Where as every major festival (bar obvious exceptions, Download etc) in the UK will be after Daft Punk if/when they finally tour. I don't see R&L having the budget to outbid V Festival (in fact I'm confident in saying they don't) & I don't see them having the personal appeal to Daft Punk (who lets face it can't just be in it for the money or they'd be touring like hell right now) like Glasto, Bestival, Hyde Park, Wireless etc would.

So no, Daft Punk will not play R&L in 2014, I'd bet my house & a naked macarena on it.

You're right guys, I'm really digging this new Editors track

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM6j14DDtGI

I knew I was right the first time! I just couldn't put my finger on which song it was!

This is folly! The Editors we all know & love have been replaced by a Bono vocal impersonator "covering" Echo & the Bunnymen. I still blame Bono, the bloody twat. :ninja:

It's not as bad as that Pigeon Detectives single from their latest album which opens with a riff stolen straight from 12:51 by The Strokes. I'd post it but I'm on my phone.

If you ever post a Pigeon Detectives single anywhere on here for what ever reason, then our forum friendship based on mutual likes (bar Muse, blah) is over, OVER I tell you!!!

:P

I don't even think I like Muse anymore. :( I'm certain that if their last two albums had been their only albums I'd hate them. Will always love the first four though.

Edit: I also don't like The Smiths. :P

Then that's ok. I've never been a big fan, but I preferred them as a poor man's Radiohead, than the recent poor man's Queen.

Haha, I also agree with both those descriptions of them. Just depressing that I never got to see them back when they were interesting and not an OTT stadium rock band reeling out the same setlist night after night.

Yeah they have quite a few that are similar to other songs. (The Cure-M & About a girl)

Aye, that's the other main one I was racking my brain trying to think of!

Also, Will, I've just seen your comment about the Smiths... I used to think you were cool man. You've changed :(

Haha. It's not that I dislike The Smiths, just not properly listened to them much, so I don't explicitly like them.

I was careful to say I "don't like" them rather than I "dislike" them. :P

To be fair, i wasn't keen on them until i listened to some of their less popular stuff, and worked my way through it until the more popular stuff 'made more sense' (not sure that's the right way of putting it) but now they're up there with my favorites
