Potential/Future Headliners

What were Arcade Fire like, popularity wise in the UK, before 2010? The first time I'd heard of them was when they got announced as headliners and it was the same way with pretty much everyone I know. My friends aren't really properly hardcore music fans, but we all listen to Alternative Rock and are normally quite good on band knowledge.

Probably rethinking it, Bloc Party have lapsed a bit and they do need the next album to be big to assert themselves as headliners. But I definitely think that putting on great performances as subs twice, the hype from having a few years off of live shows and a great new album should push them into headliner status.

Florence will blatantly headline one year but she is pretty much there anywayz... then yeah Biffy will of course headline but as far as bands lower down the lineup in recent years I can't really think of any. Two Door and The Vaccines both have chances but I just dont see it.. I think both will become fixtures of high up in festival lineups for years though. Out of the two I think Two Door have the best chance. Otherwise The Black Keys may headline but again they are pretty much there and are headlining festivals all over anywayz. System will headline at some point but that wouldn't exactly be a shock, same with Slipknot (who would possibly Sub to a big band like Florence is).

Arcade Fire were not obscure in any shape or form before 2010. They were not that well known in the mainstream but i cannot believe that anybody who takes an active interest in the type of music R and L cater for will not have heard AF before.

Funeral was one of, if not the best albums of the last decade.

Within the next few years I'd probably say 30 Seconds To Mars, Biffy Clyro, Paramore, Bloc Party, Dizzee Rascal, Pendulum.

I wouldn't be surprised if Shikari, You Me At Six, Bombay, Joy Formidable started taking sub spots either.

Bloc Party

Biffy Clyro

Queens Of The Stone Age

Mumford & Sons

The Black Keys

Outside Bets:

Pendulum (got too poppy recently, they are rubbish now. think they will lose popularity anyway)

30 Second To Mars (I hate them so please no, were terrible last year but are clearly popular)

Enter Shikari (booked too many times)

Lower Than Atlantis (I know not very big atm but they are progressing and their new stuff is some of the best stuff i've ever heard)

Lostprophets (I know you will all laugh and I assume they will play next year not headlining but just below probably 3rd down. I know they will probably never headline but who knows how well the new album will go down?)
