So here we go again :)

Don't know how many people are still going to be following the sport with the TV changes but thread is here if people want to comment :)

Finding the Sky Coverage so far very good. Much more in depth, more about the sport rather than what shirts certain people are wearing. Which I like a lot. Blundell said he didn't feel they was telling the whole weekend story at the BBC and I agree. It was far too much about the personalities rather than the actual machines, numbers, times, technical stuff. Looking forward to see how good a job they do with qualifying and the race :)

So far McLaren looking in a good place and so is Mercedes Shocker was Red Bulls poor performance this morning. Although they are probably just playing their usual games. But saying this, there is A LOT of work going on in the Red Bull garage so they certainly didn't have the day they planned. Ferrari look in a world of pain. Although this mornings numbers from Alonso where encouraging for them.

Driver wise, Schumacher looks ready to go for it this year. Which will be interesting! Hamilton looks like a man on a mission and Button looks happy and ready to go for it as well. Be interesting to see how much better Paul Di Resta can do in the Force India as well. Could be a good year for the Brits but who knows until we get some numbers in Qualifying.

I am still not convinced by Seb... He has had two of the easiest World Champions I have ever known. There was no challenge last year as the only man in a car fast enough to challenge him did nothing. I want to see him come under preasure and see how he responds. We saw him drop the ball in Canada when under pressure but then did better later in the year.

Need to have the Sky Sports Collection to have it on VirginMedia and only in SD... £22.50 a month, no thanks.

Don't watch enough of it to justify paying that, considering 1/2 the races are on the BBC anyway.

Ilegal streaming sites will be popular this year for the Sky Sports race days.

I think the reality is those with Sky are getting a choice between two huge decent providers...

The ones with just BBC will just watch the highlights as if it was live a couple of hours after the race. I don't see it being that big of a deal in the end for most people.

I don't see it being that big of a deal in the end for most people.

that's what ITV and the Prem thought when the Prem sold itself to ITV.

It's lucky for F1 that the beeb was looking to save a few quid and was happy to renegotiate its contract. If the contract had been due to end at the end of last year then it's likely the beeb wouldn't have come back in for it at all, and F1 would have been horrified at the thought of only being on Sky.

The beeb are a bit foolish when it comes to joint deals with Sky, but sooner or later they're going to wise up, and the result will be huge amounts of money falling out of all sports. I wouldn't be surprised if the sponsors force Bernie back to doing a full-time deal with the beeb at less money than sky pay within a few years, because watching half a championship is going to make loads of people not bother to watch any of it, and sponsorship that no one sees is worth fuck all.

It will be interesting to see what happens to audience numbers, I suspect if the UK drivers do well it will hold up, if they don't it could well drop significantly.

I reckon it'll fall hugely however it goes.

Most viewers are not really that bothered about watching, but keep their interest by being able to follow it all the way thru.

Without being able to follow it all the way thru there's far less incentive to watch. I know I won't be making the same efforts to watch as I have previously.

So you never watch Sky TV in a pub, mates house or your own home ?

No, no, no.

I'm not sure there's a pub left in Bristol with Sky.

None of my mates have Sky, and if they did they prolly wouldn't be my mates.

And I'd have to have Sky to watch it in my home.

Having said that I have very occasionally watched a Sky broadcast that someone was streaming, tho I do my very best to avoid those too. But I don't much care about that because the corrupt old c**t isn't getting my money to further corrupt people with.

Stop talking crap :)

http://3d.sky.com/pubfinder

I didn't mean it in all seriousness, but I know there's none anywhere clos3e to me - that became clear a few weeks ago when the rebroadcaster got cut off, and there were hordes of people roaming the streets trying to find a pub that did have sky. The pub I was in had over 80 people come thru it's doors to ask if they had Sky.

But anyway, that pub finder is shit, a complete waste of time. The pub that's supposedly nearest to me with Sky is listed as a mile away - on a road that has no pub, when the pub it's really talking about is right on the other side of Bristol (4+ miles away I'd guess).

The next nearest says it's 1.3 miles away .... I wish it was, it's very close to the garage I use, that's a ten quid taxi ride away.

The only other one it lists is in the Holiday Inn - which might not be a public bar but will only have shit lager and no ale, and no atmosphere.

So what i said is pretty much true. There's very few pubs in Bristol that still have Sky. Who'd pay £600 a month more (at cheapest) for fewer games than the alternative?

Get in :)

Hamilton was epic out there this morning :) as was Romain Grosjean :)

Shocked a just how bad the Ferrari is and Red Bull look like they will be in for a tougher season. Mercedes looking very strong as well.

McLaren vs Mercedes this season?
