Last year we met some guys who said they were allowing you to take alcahol into the arena but have just checked the website and it says no booze is allowed.

Can anyone verify whether you've been able to take your own beer in in the past?

It's allowed in the campsite but not the arena.

Edit: Speaking of weird flavoured things I just bit in to a chicken flavoured cereal bar.

No beer in the arena although now I take the family I easily get away with taking 6-8 cans in. They never check your bags properly when you have some dustbin lids in tow.....

Sometimes when no one good is on i just stand by the arena entrance barrier chanting 'chug' for people who have failed to smuggle beers in.

Last year they didn't check all drink bottles so it was kinda easy to get them in at times. Also there's many places to hide the odd can to keep you going for a while.

I have always had my bags searched and if I have any drinks in cans they ask me to throw them away or drink them before going into the main arena.

The limp is a dead give away. I heard a story about a guy dressed as Slash trying to smuggle a bottle of vodka in under his top hat. Hell, it could have been Slash. But yeah, safe to say, the precarious walk was a dead give away.

I have a walking stick (or cane) where the top screws off revealing a test tube inside which can be used to smuggle in small amount of booze but you need to fill is with something potent if you want it to have an intoxicating effect on you.

Really can't see the point in it all myself. You might save yourself one or 2 drinks at the bar but meh it's a lot of hassle for that. I drink a couple of cans on the way in. Then hit the bar. Chatting to folk in the queue is half the fun.

With regards to the walk, the way I see it, keep it as it is, but charge £2 for a golf buggy shuttle service for those too drunk/stoned/lazy to walk. Get a fleet of buggies, easy money

2 cold cans for the walk in and then draught all the way. No one needs warm flat crotch beer really.
