I guess the lack of Maiden for the UK screwed them up.

2 years off makes it unlikely to come back IMO

When one of Soni's owners won't give Soni the mega-band he manages to help re-establish it, you know it's close to being a dodo.

Add to that the things going on in the background I've heard whispers of to try and stop it coming back and yep, I can't see it ever returning.

It sounds like it's fucked.....would have thought there'd have been someone on the forum to call it like that before now! ;)
I called it even before they announced the line-up that would kill Soni 2012.

I said that (then-rumoured) line-up stood a strong chance of killing Soni in the UK forever (tho even so, I didn't think it would kill 2012; I expected 2012 to fail so badly that they'd give up for 2013) and there were lots of incredulous comments back against that.

I've held back from expressing my true thoughts about what would happen with Soni from then, because I wanted to give Soni every chance.

I really think that they've gone the wrong way about doing this; if they hadn't secured 3 headliners by September I think the best course of action would've been to announce it was not going ahead and then spend all their time focusing on 2014.

Instead they've left people waiting out in the dark, frustrated and now disappointed, eroding any consumer confidence that was left off their brand and making it incredibly unlikely to ever return.

This is a shame, I had some hope in Soni's line-up this year and always wanted to go as it had been raved about by a lot of people. Ah well.

That wouldn't have made any difference. It was 2013 or nothing - if it wasn't going to happen in 2013 it was dead anyway.

While i'd say that Soni have their own big part in how things have panned out, there were others who were trying to make it difficult for them - and that was always going to be the case. I don't think they gave that side of things the attention they might have done.

"would of bought 4 tickets this year but dont have the time off or a passport and cant be arsed going to other eu countrys to give foreiners me dosh to get flooded / crushed/ burnt or robbed like happened in the other festivals over the past few years... im keeping british 25% unemployment in parts of eu"

Bloody "foreiners"!

I've enjoyed followng this forum for months now in the vain hope that Soni UK would return in 2013. I thought the 2009,10 and 11 festivals were excellent - great bands, well organised, a really good vibe from other festival-goers and just up the road from where i live. I think they have found it hard to compete with Download and that is a big part of their problem - epecially with a supposedly limited number of headlining acts being available or deemed suitable. For some time now i have thought that Sonisphere UK should try to find its own niche or find other ways to appear different to DL ... for example if they are struggling for headliners then give newer bands a chance ( with their traditional strong under card) or run a cheaper, two day festival instead. For me the best thing about the music at Sonisphere was the mix of genres and the strong undercard with many new or unfamiliar acts ....... The headliners weren't what attractive me, especially in 2011. This year i had hoped for the traditional mix lower down the bill with one or two large headliners and at least one newish band being given the chance that biffy were in 2011. I agree that Soni UK Is now dead and think its a great shame ..... I just hope that something else rises from the ashes as Soni had a great vibe and a fantastc location, it just needs its own identity and to be prepared to take chances. One of the greatest failings of Soni UK, which any future festivals should be mindful of, was their poor communications and lack of engagement with their audience ........ How long have we been seeking info on Soni 2013???? And what also happened last year?? Thanks for all your banter, it has amused me ...... You never know it may all start again with "will Soni UK 2014 go ahead"!!!!
