I have to say the news stations were marvellous last night. Showing that evil witch cristina fernandez insulting our noble nation, whipping up the savages in the audience into a frenzied, baying mob. Showing all those evil argentinians then attacking our helpless little british embassy in buenos aires.

All this juxtaposed against the quiet dignity of the ceremony for our brave soldiers who died defending our great nation from the invading barbarian hordes.

A good 80% of the british population would support a war against argentina. I am convinced of it.

right about the majority opinion that people hold today, perhaps.

It's certainly not factually correct to make a blanket statement that "we all want the Falklands to stay British", as tho that's always been the way.

As has already been pointed out, few people even knew they existed before 1982, and the govt certainly didn't treat them as British - and it still doesn't now unless you can show me their MP in parliament.

The only reason that there's any body of opinion about them at all is due to a war, a war that was cooked up for UK-mainland political purposes and fuck all to do with the Falklands.

That pans out as Thatcher using people's kids as cannon fodder for votes.

If you think there's anything right about that, or anything that makes you proud to be British, then you can find your own towel to wipe the blood of British citizens from your hands.

I'd say he's wrong to say we all want it. Clicking the first link served by Google on the search "Falklands to remain British opinion poll" gave me the following link - http://en.mercopress...ers-not-so-sure

Apparently only 61% support protecting the Falklands for as long as they want to remain British, with the numbers falling the younger the respondent.
