Andre91
Paramore, Rammstein, Iron Maiden? Or Slipknot!
devilman
Got my tix already but I would be delighted with either of those predictions.
Gucci Piggy
Id take it with a pinch of salt but they seem to have made a decent number of correct predictions in the past.
kipper64
Generally fairly reliable aye. Would suggest an American, British band for certain, and the only others I can think of would be German(Rammstein), Australian(AC/DC) or Canadian (Nickelback). So looking likely to be Maiden, Slipknot and Rammstein I imagine. Great set of headliners for Download, though seeing as I saw Maiden and Rammstein together at Soni 2010, and Maiden at Nova Rock 2011, and Slipknot at Soni 2011 (who were shite), not doing much for me. Wouldn't mind seeing Rammstein again, but would rather at their own show rather than a stripped down festival set.
willutalk
Andy may as well announce now to get it over and done with now everyone thinks it'll be Slipknot, Rammstein and Maiden! And to add with Thrash Hits giving it away everybody is just looking forward to seeing what these logos look like on the poster!
Dan R
Are slipknot releasing a new album? I didnt think they were considering corey and jim are working on the stone sour album. Unless they are then I really hope they dont headline as itd just try and emulate 09, which I doubt it would match. Id like there to be a surprise headliner which no-one saw coming. Dan R
Also what happened to the Van Halen rumours?
kipper64
They keep releasing diffferent statements re: a new album afaik. I think they've got demos knocking about but I seriously doubt they'll have the time to sit down, write and record before next June with all of them doing their own thing and Corey focusing on the new Stone Sour releases. So likely they won't have much, if anything, new by the time DL comes around, so it'll essentially be the same tour they've been touring since before DL09. Van Halen are unlikely, the dropped half their US tour for literally no reason, then announced some Japanese dates for later this year, which have also been dropped now (Eddie has some surgery or something to go through), so even if a UK festival was to book them, they'd likely not show up. insideaway
I honestly think Stone sour will get the push up to headline next yeah. Think its more likely than Slipknot without new materal
kipper64
Andy said on twitter they aren't quite headliners yet, depends on how the new albums go and all that.
insideaway
Rammstein, Ax7, Maiden? Or maybe if the a more dancy headliner then maybe Daft Punk? Stone sour under Ram or Maiden would be awesome.

Lithium05
At the risk of throwing in an unpopular curveball, I'm going with: My Chemical Romance, Rammstein, Iron Maiden. I really don't think Slipknot will be there, Stone Sour will, but not Slipknot. It doesn't make sense for them to play again without new material. It would be the same set at 2009 if they played without anything new. MCR have a new album out, played Reading recently, are still very popular (even if they arent around these parts) and despite what you may have heard, were not that badly received in 2007 (they played the entirety of their allotted hour and a half, and the bottling was from a minority of what was a modest, but not tiny crowd) Edited September 10, 2012 by Lithium05

AcademicPistol
Daft Punk haven't got the cross over appeal like Prodigy have for Download.
gazza_20
You are right but I did run into quite of lot of Daft Punk fans there this year. But that doesn't speak for the masses. My optimistic shout is: Tool, Rammstein & Maiden (or swap Maiden for a better non American or German band).
Dan R
I think Paramore, Ramm and Maiden much more likely. Paramore actually care about playing here and are big with a new album coming out.

mrtourette
I think it was genuine but it was more relief that people were still interested in them rather than actually wanting to play anywhere specific.
AcademicPistol
I'd care about playing anywhere that was paying me tens of thousands of pounds for being on stage an hour

gazza_20
Sorry Gazza, but that's a load of shite. Paramore are no more delighted to play here than any of the other bands being paid thousands of pounds to do so. In fact judging by the (lack of) effort put in when I saw them subbing Blink at Reading in 2010, maybe less so. Very unlikely to be higher than second stage headliners at Download IMO, unless the new album does VERY well, but the resulting headline status wouldn't kick in until the following year anyway. gazza_20
Why dyou know Paramore actually care about playing here? At reading it just sounded to me like she was readin lines from a script about how special it is to play there. Other than that I thought they were average. Though I do like when fests take the risk and bump up headliners
